So got with my co driver and went on our first run together. Were 40 miles from pick up with 10+ hrs to play with. He says he will head out first im like cool so i stay up watchin hulu whatever well he wakes up late and were late for pickup... Awesome start. So i go back to sleep whatever then i wake up on the side of I80 in Iowa he says were broke down. I say whats up... We have a bald trailer tire and lights out on the side of the trailer i look on GPS and loves truck stop is 15 miles away but were on the side of the interstate. Wtf. So he gets the bright idea to adjust his tandoms right there moves them all the way back then all the way forward then half way. I ask what hole are you on " idk i just judge per load" with 36000 lbs so im think what in the world. Sat for almost 3 hrs then he the co driver says #### it imma drive FML we get to loves and wait another 2 hrs for them to tell me the tire is DOT regulated and the bulb just burnt out...
Thats just half but what do yall think?

Just half? The boy's got some learnin' to do.
Bean Jr., G13Tomcat and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
The most challenging partner have I have had so far (my first partner) was like that. He wouldn't drive when he needed to, or when he said he would, and we would end up late to appointments, after sitting there close by for hours.
Dispatch is probably not going to care why you are late either, they will only care that you are late. So if you need a change, don't wait too long. When I notified dispatch about my issues with my first partner her response was that "We are a team. You need to wake up when it's his turn to drive and make sure he gets up." -
Sounds like a winner.
Why the #### would he leave with a bald tire and lights out in the first place? Better yet, why park on the shoulder for a "bald" tire and burnt out light when you're 10 minutes from safety? How'd he spot a bald tire while driving anyways? So basically he left out knowing there was #### wrong with the trailer lol.roshea, Bean Jr., BUMBACLADWAR and 14 others Thank this. -

I don't know your experience level but if you're new, someone like that is not someone worth learning from.

Yes im new to the industry but my dads been around for 25+ years i know wrong from right and yes im getting a new co driver i just had to share the stupidity. He says hes been driving for over a year and hes just a kid
Bean Jr., LtlAnonymous, Doealex and 1 other person Thank this. -
You do not have children teaching newbies.
They probably will fire that one. Bungling the entire load and failing to pretrip and catch the trailer defect etc before leaving. Fine story hearing the presumptive trainer chirp DOT item on things he did not check in the very beginning.
You, the trainee... are not aware of the danger you are in. You are almost a fragile commodity that can be very damaged if a company botched your education out there.BUMBACLADWAR, buddyd157, Dino soar and 2 others Thank this. -
I’d be solo driver after that.
