i dont know a model number or anything, but some of the newer model volvos we have, have a 5th wheel release handle that is almost impossible to release without getting your clothes filthy on the mudflap...and these are 5th wheels that do not slide
i usually drive an old 92 volvo 9 speed and the 5th wheel is very easy to release, and without getting dirty
these new ones feel stiff, and are hard to reach, and are even hard to use a shepards hook to release
ill never forget the day i drove a mack, and when i saw how far that 5th wheel release handle was buried in there, i just wonder what genius engineer came up with that...also a non sliding 5th wheel
newer volvo 5th wheel release handle

They wouldn't be so bad if our trailer didn't have those "skirts" over the wheels,...
I'm glad I stay hooked most of the time,...... -
Have you tried greasing under you fifth wheel? Sometimes all those moving parts get all dried and rusted up. If those were all lubed up you could probably get it with a shepards hook easier.

if it isnt adjusted right--as in too tight--that will make hard to unhook as well,as it is always keeping pressure on the jaws

I have a 2020 volvo 680 and can not figure out how to release my fifth wheel from my trailer. Can some one help. Looked at manual could not tell me anything.

Some of fifth wheels release by grabbing the handle, lift up (vertical) on the handle while at the same time pulling the handle towards you until it stops, and then move it to the left horizontally to lock it in place.
