Thinking about buying another step deck :
Cons and pros ?!
I have 3 axle aluminum step low pro with ramps that we rarely need this combo ( i. e. 3rd axle or ramps or being low pro ) most of the loads we haul - flat bed loads , cons - 17.5 tires irregular wear on the edges , 5% of loads denied due to being too low at the loading dock , using ramps - probably once in 2-3 months
Flat bed Conestoga( 48 aluminum spread ) doing just bit less money but with virtually 0 headache or problems .
All the loads we get is from the load board . Previous dispatch was specialized in step deck only and most of the loads i was getting we were grossing under 65k .
Now different dispatch getting mostly flat bed loads but the scheduling is perfect and everyone loves it .
I am thinking between fontaine step or reitnouer step , aluminum , probably 22.5 spread to avoid tire wear ... Thinking about converting it to Conestoga . Trailer will be new . I like fontaine side rail design and its much cheaper than reitnouer but has less resale value
...or other option just to get another fontaine flat and forget about all this , not planning to do oversize or heavy haul at the moment
Just wanna hear peopleS opinions considering my situation
