Sitting here watching the rain come down and the snow shutting down 80. Gee, feel so bad I don't have to chuck iron or drive in this stuff anymore!
Now regarding the "run on TP" (is there a pun in that?) ... if these people thought about where the TP comes from ... oh yes, everything comes from China in our stores ... no TP or any other paper product is in those rigs running up and down I-5, not a single pound, must be nothing but soy products and grass seed.
As of 0800, CalTrans is reporting 28 inches on Donner Summit (measured at the rest area south side) 80 is shut down at Colfax (all vehicles) but 50 is open with chains 4 miles east of Placerville (Camino).
Weather reports are saying this storm for the mountains will go thru Monday night, then a couple days of clear and into another 6 day snow/rain event. We need it, prior to this storm, the snow pack was at 44% of average.

 

I'm starting to think plan 3 weeks down and get exposed to the virus on purpose, Just get it done and over-with like our parents did with chicken pox when we were kids.

 

You are correct... besides, Brasil won't do what China did, arresting people and dragging them to confinement... even if they wanted, they wouldn't be able to do that....
So... it's possible that Brasil will become what Italy is now within a couple months or so... because folks here are not prepared and equipped to deal with a situation like that...

Hospitals... specially public hospitals don't have enough equipment, beds, nurses, doctors, drugs, anything to attend the population... most population is poor and miserable... public establishments in this country are a mess, a chaos, VERY DEFICIENT already.. with people dieing while waiting to be attended... sick people laying on hallways and such... this is already "NORMAL" WITHOUT any virus pandemic going on... now I just imagine when this thing spreads...
And I think it's going to spread really fast... because people here are MUCH MORE exposed to each other than in countries like America for instance... mass transportation is EVERYWHERE here, that's how people here go from place to place... by buses, trains, subways.... millions and millions here take those everyday... they don't use cars like they do in America... People WALK on the streets in this country... everywhere....
So... public gatherings are being cancelled here now and people are being advised to avoid going to places where they may be in contact with a lot of people... but if almost everybody has to take a bus or subway or train everyday to go to work... how is that possible? Buses and subways here are constantly crowded...

I'm thinking go the other way....... Use all those entertainment and sporting event venues as voluntary exposure centers........ Show up for 3 squares and a cot for 2 weeks. Free cremation if you don't make it out alive.

But I'm a sick s.o.b. like that..

 

I'll tell ya right now, you don't want to be stuck in Brazil when coronavirus explodes there. People here are being beyond stupid, I can't imagine what will happen there.

 

We can even use a spiffy name for it like "Corona Camp"

 

I wonder how big cities like Rio and São Paulo will deal with a pandemic like that and how they will keep control of the spread... So many slums everywhere with people living among trash and sewage...











There are millions of slums in Brasil like those... and millions of people living on the streets specially in big cities...
In Sao Paulo, for instance there is an area near downtown which is called Cracolandia.... (crackland). where addicts live on the street...
