I think someone had made mention of this earlier in this thread, but I don't feel like looking back.
We as a country have become germophobic. Everyone's afraid of a little bacteria. This made our immune system weak.
So they spray our fruit with chemicals known to cause cancer, then tell us to wash it off. Why not skip the chemicals, eat the bacteria, which will strengthen our immune systems, and move on with life?
Same with meat. They inject it with God knows what to make it look pretty in the store. What's that doing to us?
But really, it starts at home with the kids. They don't go outside anymore. Playing video games is more important. My brother in law never leaves his bedroom. Plays video games for a living. He's always sick with some sinus infection or something. I don't acknowledge him when I so see him anymore. Such wasted potential.
I remember as a kid playing outside from sunrise to well after it was dark. We'd ride our bicycles through mud, rinse off with a garden hose, take a drink from the same hose, and repeat the process. I used to share my ice cream with my dog. I tell my kids friends these things, and they're mortified.
But we didn't get sick in the 90's like today. We didn't run to the doctor for everything. There was no need. Self medication was popular in our area.Sirscrapntruckalot, dunchues, Flat Earth Trucker and 3 others Thank this. -
80s and 90s? My summers were spent at the river a short walk from the house. We would sometimes follow the river for miles, usually IN the river just to see where it went and how far we could go. I'm sure I drank the water more then a few times. Or biking around neighborhoods or the local country club golf course, hanging out in a few different abandoned places, including a huge abandoned asbestos factory. Lord only knows what we could have come in contact with in any of those places what with the debri, rust, and stagnant flooded basements. We didn't care, and our parents only cared due to danger of physical injury, not germs.
Even nowadays, I could be outside doing yardwork or whatever, come inside, make myself a sandwich leaving dirt fingerprints on the bread, meat, and cheese, and eat it without concern.Last edited: Mar 17, 2020
