LTL in FFE to me in the old days means many stops. The last one into Hunts was two stops on their property, racked and stacked for forklift unload only. The first receiver caused some trouble on that one.

FFE as of 2020 has these divisions.

    Linehaul, Regional, Local

Linehaul - OTR terminal to terminal, drop and hook. Paid by mileage

Regional - can be terminal to terminal (Lithonia, Ga - Dundee, Fl), can be multiple stops, pickups and deliveries, final destination. Usually not more than 500 miles away from terminal. Paid mileage and for each stop.

Local - usually 100 miles or less. Multiple stops. Paid by the hour.

If you are at a terminal and are OTR and the terminal is short handed you might get ask to help run Local or regional runs. Till you get a OTR load. (You don't have to but it does give you more money, and it shows your a team player) When doing these favor you will either get Regional or Local pay. Depending on what runs you do.

    FFE - Plasma
Team driving. OTR. Can pickup / drop off at customer or terminal.

No problem, I just didn't want the OP to get confuse if he chose to go work for them.

Are you still working for them @Jenn72 ? If so, do you still like it? I need a company that does the schooling, sadly. But also need a company that is in the region I'll be moving which is Lawton, OK. the DFW, TX terminal would be close by, with in reasonable for me to take "home time" from. My other options that I know of at the moment is Swift, which is out of OKC, OK.

Yes, I am still working for them. Don't have any plans on leaving them either. I haven't had any problems. Middle of Dec to the beginning of March is slow time. During spring, summer, fall they will run you. My rookie year I made over 58k (linehaul) There is another driver on here that runs the Plasma route. He makes over 80K. (that is team driving)

I have a son stationed in Lawton. It is about 200 miles from the terminal. 3 hour drive. Drive isn't bad. No traffic after you get out of DFW.

Yeah that would be over by Altus, OK. Heard they've got really good hog hunting on that AFB. My fiance's first husband was stationed there. That is one of her favorite places she's ever lived. One of the reasons we will be going there. Small town life, land, nature, and people being good to each other.

With plasma you will load a trailer full of the stuff each week and take it to one of their warehouses.

2-4 pickups daily. Its about average 80-90 cases. Some less, some more. It pays $30 per pickup with average load time of about 40 minutes once you get a consistent speed.

You start at 0.40 cpm and you are paid that for all dispatched miles. Avg about 1500 a week gross. Dont listen to any other gossip about pay.

Some runs pay more than others. I made total about 2000 last week. This week will be closer to 2200. Other runs pay less. Two weeks ago I only made 1000.

Lots of city driving, sometimes in small areas. I got used to it but its an adjustment for new drivers.

If you sit for 24 hrs earning no money layover is paid 150 per day.

You earn 850 the week you do not work. If you work through your week off you still get the 850 plus whatever you earned on your run. Last time I did that my check was for 3450.00. Thats just 1 week.

Lots of long working hours. Occassionally you do stops during the day then looking at a long night of driving to get to your first stop the next day. The most extreme example is doing your last pick up at like 6pm in west side south Dakota, then driving 10 hours to east side north dakota for a 7am appt the next morning. Needless to say whoever does that overnight drive gets very tired. Thats the worst stretch Ive done so far. But during the week you will normally shut down about 12-1am at latest. Often you will finish right at 5 or 6pm and be parked for the night.

Healthy job because of the physical work involved. But it can also mess with your sleep rythems and fatigue is a normal thing, especially on the better paying runs.

However its not THAT bad. You would learn to take naps in between pick ups when your partner is driving, unless you are training. We get pretty good at just sleeping whenever.

I slept for like 20 hours once. Lol. Partner thought I died. I was fine, just catching up because I had a sleep deficit.

Schedules are more irregular than typical linehaul teams. Of then you will park for the night in some random city next to you pick up. If you arent too tired you have time to explore a little, maybe catch an Uber.

    Hello Jenn72,

I just got off the phone with a recruiter from FFE and they told me that linehaul was available to me in my area. I live near Salinas, CA so I'd be based out of the Stockton terminal sounds like. I have 10 plus years experience, but I've been off the road since 2013 so I'll have to do a refresher and go out with trainer. How are you liking it there?

If Americold is still FFE Account, make sure you have a minimum of one months savings so that you can endure the wait to load there at Salinas.
