New trainer is a lot different. Learned more in one day than 4 weeks. Got 1.5 weeks to take advantage of this.
Another new driver

I was fortunate to pick up the backing part pretty quickly when I started out. It helped that I attended a 10 week school where that's all we did all day everyday. A problem I had was waking up in the middle of the night reaching for the steering wheel because I thought I was going down the road. Luckily that went away after a bit.

That isn't uncommon, just that most drivers won't admit to it.Lonesome, Vic Firth, Snow Hater and 2 others Thank this. -
Amazing the effect a different perspective will have. After the last 2 days I'm comfortable in any backing situation. Just follow the steps.
Didn't know there were steps before Tues.Jenn72, Lonesome, Vic Firth and 1 other person Thank this. -
Oh man the funniest one for me, I had a long day and was super tired. Had to park on an on-ramp. There was another truck in front luckily with his parking lights on. I pulled up about 10 feet behind him and stopped. About 30 seconds later I see the guys lights in front of me getting closer and closer so I yanked on the air horn thinking he was backing up and at the last second before I would of rolled into them I pushed my brakes. I had forgotten to set my parking brake when I stopped. Haha, he must of wondered why in the hell the guy behind him was honking. Probably woke the poor driver up.

I figured some things out. I musta learned something from the first one or I dont think things would have come together as quickly as they did. I'm grateful for that.
Upgraded today and go back Thurs to learn about the type of truck I'll be assigned. I guess I'm a shiny new driver now. Probably tarnish fairly quickly.Jenn72, Lonesome, Vic Firth and 1 other person Thank this.
