I can't believe you guys don't like truck stops.... especially in July-August when the smell of ammonia is so thick in the air that your paint starts to peel... nothing like sleeping in a urinal with the windows cracked and the sleeper vents open and god forbid you drop something on the ground in that mystery stain. Wake up to find you're 8 trucks deep in a 1 deep row... or do a walk around at 1 am and step in a hot fudge sundae that doesn't melt... or have a day to kill so you wipe you're shiny down.. make sure you don't miss a spot... wake up and look around to find that you're wheels became the peein' post for the night. How about the time some one stole my trailer mudflaps?
I like truck stops. Just can't understand why you guys don't....
I hate truckstops!

word. and likewise. i shut down early. for regular people, is the morning for them. to me, it's my night time. as my morning time is arriving, i am getting ready to bolt out of the truck stop. unfortunately i've parked in countless spots that reeked of ammonia. holding my breath didn't do any good.HFC Thanks this.

I've never been hit by anyone either, but I've seen lots of other trucks hit by jerks in parking lots. Most of them are hit n' runs. Just got to be careful how you park...
See that often as well. Some people are just too #### lazy...
Ever wonder why... just go up one comment. My company puts a comment in the local instructions if a shipper/receiver allows overnite parking. We're our own worst enemies when it comes to abusing the privilege of parking overnight.
Ya know... that's tough - you have to stop somewhere for a break, and if the truckstops are filled up, what's a driver gonna do? If I have to, I just pull up in front of the building with the john, put on my 4-ways, and go take care of the call of nature.
It's been my experience that you can find those problems at any truckstop. Goes back to their management, and how they choose to run the place.HFC Thanks this. -
The very first thing I do when I get to the truck stop is to pull up to the fuel pump and then go inside and get a big box of wings. Then, I come back out to the truck, eat wings and throw the bones on the ground while I fuel.
After a nice snack of wings, the tanks are full... and so is my bladder, sooo... I have a look at the reefer temp and pretend I'm checking the reefer while I mark my territory at the fuel island. The gals at the fuel desk, looking at the video feed from the cameras out on the fuel island, like to watch anyhowit turns them on.
Even though the inside of my truck looks like a pack of gorillas has been living in it for a few years, I like to keep the outside looking shiny. Problem is, I spend so much money on drugs and lot lizards, I can't afford to pay anyone to wash it. So I utilize the free washing utensils at the fuel island. Those window squeegees are great for washing the crud off my fuel tanks. And if I happen to be bobtailing, the rubber blade is an excellent tool for spreading new grease on the fifth wheel.
Now that the truck is fueled up and clean, I lock 'er up and proceed inside to take a shower. I just leave it at the fuel island 'cause I'm only gonna be inside for a few hours. Besides, they got plenty of other fuel islands for people to use. That guy behind me will eventually realize it and move to another island.
Ok, so I lied about taking a shower. Everyone knows truck drivers don't shower. I went by the game room and that cool game with the guns and death and destruction was calling my name. Heck, I'll just play a few games... oops... no time for a shower now, and it looks like I'm gonna be late getting to the receiver.
I go back out to the truck and "sheeeet fahr"... I gotta pinch a log. Out comes the trusty walmart bag, "PLOP" and out the window it goes. Whew... stinky! Litter you say? Nahh.... the crows like to pick out the cornit's biodegradable.
By this time, all that free coffee needs to come out. I grab the ol' 44 ounce Big Gulp cup off the floor, fill 'er up pour it out the window as I leave. What's that you say? No, it's not nasty... the rain will wash it away eventually. Besides, it's just a little pee.
Hey looky there! The sign out front says this place has been sold. "Walmart Super Center, Coming Soon".Shep Shiloh, Pete_379X and Peterbilt79 Thank this. -
I wish I could thank that 1000 more times.
HFC Thanks this. -
i'd have to agree with you Black even though i've only been to a few but only a couple of them I though were pretty nice didn't have any problems and the drivers were friendly except for 1.

I try not to park in th T/S either.Lots of times I use roads other than Interstate just so I can find a quiet dark place to sleep. Then I shut the reefer off(same as if I park beside you at the truckstop),roll down the windows(when needed) and go to sleep. The only time anyone has ever bothered me was in the T/S.I guess the trucks are afraid of the dark.Never throw out trash-not even a cigarette butt. This job is really gonna suck when the only T/Ss left are the big ones.
Pete_379X Thanks this. -
