I live in the real world. I go over my truck constantly and still get popped by dot for the most piddly stuff. The only reason I dont repair stuff on my truck is because Im a company driver and they dont pay me to repair the truck, but they'll gladly pay a shop of my choosing.
Edit: I had a brake chamber replaced last Monday for $162 total.

I know, and you're right. But was that at the beginning of his day, during a 30 min break, randomly stopping to take a leak, or going down the road that he noticed it? Last one I had to change went twenty minutes after I left the garage at the beginning of my day. It wasn't leaking when I did my pretrip, but was after I stopped at the first three traffic lights. I'm not arguing your knowledge or ability... simply stating you can't say it was necessarily bad when/if he pretripped his truck.D.Tibbitt, x1Heavy, Dave_in_AZ and 4 others Thank this.

Am I lucky? I drove hauling milk 15 months and never got inspected.
One of the 10 times I got scaled I was 7-8 hundred over on my steers and they waved me through.D.Tibbitt, 650cat425, WesternPlains and 1 other person Thank this. -
I think I’m gonna drop a G on some Uber stock. If I get a Trump check, it’s like free imo

I fail to see what that has to do with what I said. I'll clarify, the point I was making was that stuff breaks, whether you check it every 30 minutes or 30 hours or 30 days. That's just the way it is. Just how is that a bad reflection on a good driver.
Some drivers are not mechanics, does that make them inferior, maybe in your eyes, but not mine.
As far as a company driver or O/O, or the real world as you put it, I've been both and have fixed more stuff myself out on the boulevard in the last 40 years then I care to remember. I've also helped driver's who I came across broke down, and they've helped me. That was the way it used to be out here, but apparently not so much anymore.....RidgeRunner731, Rcranch81, 7-UP and 14 others Thank this. -
But hey, I bought light bulbs to fix my turn signal. Does that count? LOL

Ex bosses relative works at the wallyworld in Spearfish SD.
He told me from her. Going crazy with everything selling out. Somebody watching for truck deliveries. Let them know on facebook. They go in and clean it out by 10 am. Talking all meat. Other stuff.
Obvisously a Left organizing trouble.
Said one gal complained. Another had two bags of cat litter. One gal said she deserved the second bag. She has no toilet paper.
Obvious Left logic/rationalizing to cause trouble.
I don't at all see the same in other wallyworlds. Maybe toilet paper sold out? Still can't figure out why. Stupid.Rcranch81, D.Tibbitt, Dave_in_AZ and 3 others Thank this. -
Did you get the turn signal fluid in there also?RidgeRunner731, Rcranch81, Wasted Thyme and 7 others Thank this.
