Maybe if the rates weren't so bad the last 6 months more none essential truckers could afford to sit for a couple of weeks.
Insurance cost is through the roof. Cant sit for 2 weeks with $5000 monthly in bills coming in wether you run or not.
Rates arent much better right now either so I'll be running until I'm forced to stop because I cant go bankrupt before my first year is over.

I made a huge mistake ontop of all this and put a non refundable downpayment on a trailer a couple of weeks before this got so bad. Now I gotta find a way to earn the balance before the trailer is ready. I put my current trailer and my motorcycle for sale cheap trying to free up some more cash to pay this all off.

I'd definitely sit for two weeks if I could afford it, but unless progressive is willing to give me a $6000 break I cant stop.

No it's not.. they wouldn't have it 2 months later... The WH's attempt to hide the numbers early on has exploded this. They made it nearly impossible for people to get tested because he thought it would all blow over. Now it hasn't "blown over" and we lost all advantage we had going in, with our chance to be prepared for it 2 months ago. We are full blown pandemic right now and the numbers are already 31k with the mid day reporting meaning 4k cases just by lunch time today.. We will be 35k tonight and in the 40's tomorrow and 100k next week if not this week..

What we are seeing today is at the very least a week later on the infections. This at best case R02 meaning ever person that gets it, infects at least 2 more people and there have been untested people walking around for weeks out there. The worst part is the fact that it's mild for many people meaning it's been spreading far and wide due to no mass testing until mid last week.. The only way to stop this is to stay the hell home..

I'm sure not many of us can't afford to sit home, I'm sure none of those people in all those businesses shut down right now can afford it, but unfortunately it's what it will take unless you want to see 2 million dead people... Any of my bills will be going on the credit card until I'm running again. I'm not using my cash reserves for now. My logic on that is if this #### hits the fan in a bad way and the economy is crushed then screw the credit card companies and I'll have my cash... if it blows over in 2 or 3 weeks I only paid a bit of interest...

This is why it's important to be able to not run for a few weeks and have the ability to make your bills. Might be a motor that blows up or your trailer gets whacked at a truck stop by a swift driver or a #### pandemic. You have to be able to make it through something like this or you will fail sooner or later down the road because of something else because sooner or later you will hit a situation where you can't run..

My wife went on a mission trip to Pachacutec a few years ago. That’s in Peru. She has contacts with some of the people living there. They sent video of the market place today. Everyone wearing the face mask people scurrying about trying to buy food and essentials with the military positioned on the street. They was in full combat gear now that was spooky to watch. In good times food is available but old and bruised. One family said they had 2 Avocados between husband wife and child for breakfast. We are so blessed in this nation. Just had a amazon package delivered as I am typing this. WOW

Here is another view.. either we do the stay at home voluntary and act as responsible adults or it will most defiantly become mandatory and you will then be treated as irresponsible children. That is the new reality of what is coming if we don't curb this.. We have examples of it already happening in other countries AND in this county there are already mandatory stay at home orders in several states and many, many towns..

Of course I don't expect the majority of Americans to do what they are supposed to do voluntarily so we will end up with mandatory stay at home orders.

Imagine how other Americans in the 40's would have reacted to people who decided that "rationing" was only for some but not for me.. Very different mentality and sacrifice for the better of the country then I guess.

If I shut down and cancel my insurance I would have to return my apportioned plates and lose my dot/mc numbers? When I reopen will I get my numbers back or do you get new numbers and start from 0?
I'm finally running long enough to get loads from any broker I contact. Will shutting down and restarting when this is over make it look like my numbers are new again?

I sat home this week and can afford another week but what after that? I need a minimum of 10 days work to cover my costs for the month. I don't want and can't dip into my savings to keep the company open and not work. Those funds need to stay available to me for living costs if this keeps going longer than another week or 2. Standing still still costs me 4k a month. Deferring payments won't help cause you just get charged double the following month.

When you cancel your insurance your numbers will go to sleep anytime you renew your insurance it will wake your numbers back up you’ll always have the same numbers as long as you have the same name and EIN..
