I spent the last 2 months out on the road and just checked my mailbox at home for the first time since January.

Got a noticed to report for jury duty on March 16th. Well it’s already March 25th.

    What should I do now?

The only thing I could do with what I know was to call the automated system and explain my situation. No idea when or how I will get called back.

The letter threatened fines if I didn’t show up.

Keep copies of your logs proving you weren't home and forget about it.

Calling and leaving an explanation at the phone number they provided is enough.

I strongly recommend you sign up for the Post Office service called Informed Delivery. Any day they deliver mail they send a pic of that mail to an email address you provide. I use a PO Box and this is how I see my mail while OTR. You can't read your mail, but you can see if you have something from the IRS, state DMV, etc. Informed Dellivery from the Post Office is free.

Exactly. Depending on the State the O/P hails from, maybe..maybe not. The fully shut down 5 (or more?) states.. nope. Not at all. Letting low level offenders OUT of jail..waiting for court, atm here in Ohio. :( Ours are at about the same.. in Ohio.

Exactly. Depending on the State the O/P hails from, maybe..maybe not. Ours have been down for almost 4 weeks here. Ohio is a 'shut down' state. I'd not worry, IMHO.
