The 5th wheel does not have to slide just be positioned to axle the weight. Has to tilt if your trailer plate does not. Does it have stops welded under the plate? A gas hatchet will get rid of those. Watch the plastic air lines.

Seals about 1 1/2 or 2 hours each plus parts. Hopefully no larger mechanical problems.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

The more you do yourself, the more YOUR cash stays in YOUR pocket.
The more you do yourself, the more your confidence in your abilities rises.

You had a cotter pin break. That's not the place to stop trying.
Get a set of pin punches; Manhattan supply Co, good tools, cheap.
UPS has them on your front porch in 2 days.

I like Mayhew Tools, look at a catalog from them, too.
Great selection of prying and bashing tools that last; real quality, not junk.

Punch out broken pin, or grab other end, with side-cutter dykes.
You don't need to get all your tools at once; attack each issue as it presents itself.
    Next time, you are ready.
And that is a fine looking COE!!

One thing to note that hasn't been addressed.

City horn isn't required per se. You have to have one horn, so if the air horn works that's legal. Oh it's a good idea to get it fixed, but it's not required unless there is no air horn.

i did tell them that. it was on the list, so that's why i posted it on here. i prefer the air horn anyways, much louder, and gets peoples attention

Go to hatbor freight and get a cheap bolt meter or test light, side grinder, zip ties, basic tool set and you can fix a good bit of your problems. If it was pulling an end dump, it probably has blocks under the fifth wheel.

Respectfully disagree. It is illegal to use an air horn in some areas. Air horn is not required and will not meet the requirement because of restricted use.
I do not personally agree with this but have seen many write ups for no city horn over the years.

D.Tibbitt, Dino soar, Doealex and 3 others Thank this.
