Anyone ever heard of a Zumstein/Cheeseman Trucking both kind of sister companies I think, they are around dayton, oh and in South Carolina and Conneticut<---that spelling has to be wrong) area, must have some dedicated customers in that area.

They have a Driver Apprentice Program for 6mos CDL experience and it seems like a decent place to work for, nice trucks and decent pay.

    Thanks

The information on the Cheeseman website looks pretty good, even a sign on bonus. Looks like mostly east coast.
    Nice find.:yes2557:
    See what the drivers say....

Skylarsh, pleeease take my advice and stay as far away from them as possible. I know first hand how they are and what they do for and don't do for their drivers. Zumstein now owns Cheeseman. If you go to the thread about bad companies there are afew posts on there about them. Believe me they are NOT the place to go for a rookie or a veteran for that matter. They used to be great but in the kast few years they have went downhill sooo baaad it is unreal. Feel free to e-mail me and I can elaborate on this in some detail. Hope this helps.:biggrin_2557:

I thought the same thing and called them, I found thier recruiter BOB G. I wont post his last name to be very dis organized at first then as days went on found him to be nothing short of a blithering idiot, my final talk with him he was slurring his words drunk!!!!! IM NOT KIDDING!!!! I noticed a pattern the later in the day it got the worse his speech got and the stupider he got by quiting time hes hooched and he is the safety man! I hung up on him and recomend all stay clear, cant be good if the recruiter has to drink to do his job!

I spent more years there than I care to mention. I know who your talkin bout an believe me when I tell you he is FAR WORSE than a snake in the grass!!!! Since the boy took total control an the old man died that place has went to hell in a hand-basket. I know a guy that has been there for over 40 years an he has no more senority than a new hire. Now that is really sad. If you want to hear more let me know I can tell you some thangs that would make you sick.

Worked there for 1 year at first I loved it. But then Zumstein went under and everyone went to Cheeseman which is mostly LTL. Zumstein had 200 drivers in Jan 08. After they went together they systematicly dropped 130 of them by firing or making them quit. Guessing to get out of paying unemployment. In Nov they gave me a load from SC to Ohio told me it didnt have to be there any specific time. 5 hrs into trip they call and tell me it needs to be there by 7am. Told them there was no way and they fired me for late delivery. You are right about Bob but he isnt the worst main mans name is Derk(shoulda been Jerk). A little squirlly guy and total butt head. If you dont mind cheatin on your logs you can make $$ but then they expect it all the time.

All their logs are e-logs how is it possible to cheat that??? Yes, I didn't really like the recruiter as well but I loved talking to my terminal manager, as you can tell i'm goin to be working for these guys soon. I haven't heard anything bad about them except for the recruiting department.

I currently work at Cheeseman and I absolutely hated the idea of e-logs when we first started out but now I absolutely love them because it puts the responsibility of making sure you use all your available hours back on the dispatcher. Now that there is no way to cheat the system they HAVE to use your hours in the most efficient way possible. Now they don't run you ragged and expect you to sit here for hours but run make it up later w/out sleep. You can check out my blog to see how I make e-logs work for me by clicking on my profile and then view my blog. You can also check out the thread linked below to further see my opinion on Cheeseman.
