Ann2009 sorry for your loss. Lost my brother 7 years ago to cancer. That one still stings. People should listen to what your saying as it is the truth.

April of 08 got out of the bunk felt kinda of quezzy. My head was pounding and had a fever. Took off for the day anyway as after the load was delivered off for the rest of the day. Made the delivery and by this time my left leg was stiff and real sore. Could hardly push the clutch in. It was all I could do to unhook the trailer. Went home and slept till the next morning. Felt a little better but leg was killing me. Got into the Drs office that morning and took a blood test. He said "your going to spend a couple days in the hospital". Looks like cellulitous. By now my leg was swollen up and real red and angry lookin. They put me on antibiotics through iv and after 2 days was not really clearing up. Changed drugs and 2 days after that finally cleared up. In all 5 days in the hospital and a week off of work. He told me next time don't screw around and tuff it out. It this would have gone too much longer would have lost my leg!:biggrin_2556:

So with all the crap goin round it pays to play it safe. Also another reason to not eat off of the boofey.

Not to sound insensative but why would you pull life support on a loved one? I don't care what the doctors say, I would want to be on that until I take my last breath and I'm really passed on.

thank you for the condolences and to answer your question its NOT something i wanted to do,I live with that regret every day of my life, there was no signs of brain activity and he would have been alive by machine only so would you want your children and wife to see you everyday hooked up to machines, not even knowing your there?Believe me its not something i wanted to do,I had specialists, doctors and one of the best teams from U of M in ann arbor michigan tell me the same thing,so was it being insensitive?Believe me it wasnt a decision i wanted to make in my life and unfortunately i have to live with it every day of my life,if you get a chance look up the echmo treatment and see what it is,and if you would want to see a family member hooked up to that...and just for the record he was hooked up to 6 machines,by the last machine it took less than a couple of mins and he was gone, the machine was keeping him breathing because he couldnt breath on his own,I didnt post this advise to get into a debate to see if this was right or wrong, just to pass on some advise on what a germ can do,some ppl just dont realize it and then by the time they do its to late.

Thank you and I am glad to hear it all worked out for the best on your part.People dont realize what can happen and how fast it can happen...Perfect example here-how many guys when they are working on their car or truck, cut their hand and grab the first dirty rag they find and put it on the cut to get it to stop bleeding and finish what they are doing? What they fail to realize is a germ has already gotten in there and if not taken care of it will spread through the bloodstream and before you know it it leads to sickness and infections, and if not taken care of then well I know first hand what the out come is and believe me its not pretty.

Unless you are put in that situation you honestly dont know what its like.In my husbands case it was the breathing machine keeping him alive but his brain activity was gone so would you want to look at your wife or children that way on a daily basis?I am the one who has to live with that decision the rest of my life and I will face my maker one day and he will decide whether i have made the right decision or not.I did not make this post originally to get into a debate on whether it was right or wrong and yes its still a very touchy issue for me and its going on 8 years and it still hurts,I made this post to offer advise and perhaps help someone or save someones life or not see someone go through what i had to.Trust me i am not a big fan of doctors-I believe they could have done more than put a germ in a petree dish for 7 days to watch it grow and then say ive never seen anything like this before and theres nothing more we can do except send him down to U of M in ann arbor...

Yesterday, had a violent headache, barley got the truck back to the yard. Was having hot and cold flashes. Never even had a chance to do a post trip or even fill out my log book. Almost past out in the mens room. Finally got home slept 20hrs. Got up went to doc, he checked my pb and every thing was fine.. He has no Idea what caused the headache or hot/cold flashes..

There really isn't much to avoiding getting sick. I work at a medical facility and the only things that has been suggested over and over, "make sure you wash your hands" and if you have to cough or sneeze, carry a hankerchief or sneeze in the crook of your elbow. I wash my hands repeatedly so I also carry hand sanitizer for times that I cannot get to basin and also carry hand lotion.
