    Ah, so it's been long enough that everyone has forgotten that the electronics failed on a poorly maintained bus that had been plagued with problems for months. Now it's the driver's fault.

    Sorry, I don't think those busses even have a "park" setting. What does being in park have to do with the bus not being able to stop for a red light?

    Guess the term accident should no longer be used. One idiot makes a mistake and they push legislation. i guess human are no longer able to make mistakes. Wether it be drivers or engineers.

    What are they going to do about cars that the driver hits the gas and not the brake and runs over other people or runs into a building and drives inside it? are they going to redo the cars as well now??

    Most newer cars already require the brake pedal to be depressed before the car can be shifted out of park.

    But I don't see what bearing that has on the bus accident mentioned in the OP.
