It's not that it's better, but it's more honest. If that makes sense.

So .42 cents permile plus. 05 and a guy that hustles makes 65.5k a year. How is that anything to joke about. We all paid are dues. But 65.5 potentially is not dues. How do you laugh at it?

If you look at the truck stop driver job ad books, a lot of companies advertise 60 to 70k pay.
Seems to be the lower end of average right now.

Not bad sounding, but from what I've heard most megas make promises of an annual income that rarely comes to fruition.

Well i spent a year there to start out and was making 1k a week take home , pretty easy. But it comes with the bs of a mega company which wasnt worth it, still have buddies over there and they are doing well.

And the thing with them is they only ran freight for their customers. And when u have potentially 500+ drivers competing for freight in the same place , and if their customers get slow which does happen, it is alot of sitting involved. They would never give u brokered freight to keep moving , they only use spot freight to get u back to the lanes to serve their customers so it was alot of sitting sometimes. The most i made with them was 5500 in a month september and october back to back, is not bad for a rookie. Swift get a bad name but they flatbed division is different than the other divisions ,and they was good to me and im thankful for the opportunity they give me. u can make some money if u aint afraid to run and make connections with the load planners.

I said that to say , there is no reason any company should be paying less than swift and asking for 2 years experience. That is just ridiculous.

Percentage is good only when youre on good loads. When youre "just doing a favor" runs that only pay you to go in then deadhead out for free or cheap.. Well, you do all the miles for less pay which is demoralizing. It doesnt happen to me often but it does happen.

My boss just accepted 7 more loads to florida. I told him backhauls out suck... Why are we doing this.. Were losing money by coming off our regular lane.

Oh no i got you a backhaul for monday.. Pays 700.

Yeah great, its the exact same load i got $1050 for last time. How about you let me do the spot market thing and you stick to selling rock. No way that broker is gonna give us a good rate on that again. I wanna go about oh.. 30% less than i wanted to before. Dollar a mile freight means im working for 25cents a mile. Not okay at all. Im normally like 52cpm.
