The best way to ensure you won't have a problem with your BP is to not eat anything or drink anything other than water that morning. If you smoke or dip, don't do it that morning. The nicotine raises your BP significantly. Not eating or drinking anything other than water will ensure that your blood sugar and BP are as low as they normally can be. That is why if you went to your regular doc for these tests, they would tell you to fast from midnight the day previous to get an accurate reading. I recommend you drink water, at room temperature though. They also check your pee to make sure it's the proper temperature. If the water you drink is too cold, it can make you fail. You will need to pee for the drug screen. However, don't drink too much water, if your specimen is diluted that is the same as a fail. I drink water normally anyway. I would start hydrating now drinking water all day until you go in small steady increments. Not gallons and gallons. That way, your body will be used to being properly hydrated, and your test will be normal. I drank one and a half small, room temperature bottles of water starting at 4am the morning of the test. Take a leak right when you get up if you need to and then don't go again, the pee test is first thing of the day once you get to school. You will do fine. We had one guy whose pee was too clear the nurse said. He had to drink measured amounts of water, wait awhile, and go back and do the test again with an observer in the room to verify that he wasn't cheating.
I did alot of research on what to do and what not to do. Now, if you have drugs in your system I can't help you!!! -

Yeah, I'm just sitting here PO'd, licking my wounds. I'm just sick that I'm on medical hold. My personal doc said he would get on it and get in contact with them, but I never heard from them today. I just feel like this is going to take a long time to resolve. The other part that ticks me off is that I have to do that FCE, Functional Capacity Evaluation with a therapist. Acutally, I don't mind proving myself and my strength and fitness for duty. It's the amount of weight I need to lift that gets me. I have to lift 120lbs to various heights from various heights. I had heard 60-70 lbs was the standard. Plus, I have to move a 600lb barrel by rolling it on it's end. 600lbs! That is a lot of weight! Do you think the women in these classes can do that? Or the people who are out of shape? No way in hell. I'd venture to guess that there were less than 10 out of the 26 or so in our class that can do that. I'm not even sure if I can move that kind of weight, as it would be stupid to try. There is no way that is called for during your normal daily routine driving for the company. I believe they set a higher standard for people that have had previous back problems so that there is no way they can pass, and therefore the company won't have to take on the liability. I'm ok with them having a process to prove myself, but I'm not ok with my strength test being triple what others who are fit for duty can move.
So, here I sit at home unemployed because I resigned from my job, and now I have to go and find something for income quick. Not the ideal situation in this economy. It just makes me sick inside. I didn't sleep last night. I know, wah wah, I'm being a baby. Oh well, I can't sleep, I might as well get on here and complain! -
it will be ok boog. just hang in there. im on the phone right now gettn my bus ticket. been on hold for bout 10min lol. hey man just think, there more companies out there besides stevens. i was lookn at swift before i went with stevens. i look at like this, if somthin happens i dont get into stevens ill just go to swift.
