Just to be clear. Part 391.11 clearly states no carrier can allow someone to drive (perform a safety-sensitive job) until all the requirements are complied with. Orientation is where the carriers gather these people in one place to check off these things. While 391.11 does not specifically state the word "hire" it is assumed to mean that. It would not make a lick of sense for a carrier to "hire" someone until 391.11 has been complied with. This is why you are not "hired" until you get the fuel card and/or assigned a truck or a trainer. I will politely disagree with allow me on the paperwork. Every orientation I have been a part of they did the paperwork during it.

Thanks but I’ve said it 3 times. Directly from THEIR mouth it’s considered orientation.

Ok I am confused here. Mototom says he is in orientation. Yet he also says he has knowledge of asking the shop to do a repair and them refusing. If your asking the shop for services, you cant be in orientation.
BTW? Dont quit on them if the trailer is loaded and your expected to deliver it. That is considered load abandonement -
I read it as a road test, or a short training trip or something like that. Still yet more proof he was hired. At least he definitely was a "safety sensitive" worker and thus legally required to add the company to all driving apps he puts in for the next ten years.

Would you do a road test with cords showing in tires or cracked lenses?
I don’t know what part is hard to understand.
orientation is over a week long. It’s ORIENTATION FROM THEIR MOUTH.
Part of ORIENTATION is doing “local” work for your ORIENTATION PAY of 100$ a day.
Where as being hired and doing local work is 14$/hr. -
It doesn’t matter. Got hired to a different non trash company and start Monday pending drug test.
Filled out all paperwork just need an assigned tractor. -
Just tell them you are "electing to self quarantine at home because of Covid 19". And go get another job. They cant do anything about it.BigDog Trucker Thanks this.

This thread should be called “am I hired or not...cause I quit”

Why are you being so defensive? You made a call to walk away! You don't need to justify that decision. The FMCSA has a history of shutting down dangerous carriers, that is a fact. Another useless fact is your status during that time. I'm not trying to insult you or otherwise make light of this. You did the right thing by walking away. I read you got a new job, good! Now go make some money! Gosh only knows how bad the "guvermunt" needs your tax dollars now!Mototom Thanks this.
