FLD 03, mirror mount browning 42, 1.6 swr, wilson coax, general lee prepped by Bobs cb.

Can hear out in front a good 5-7 miles with squelch and gain on to eliminate static. From behind can only get about 3-4

Should i try switching to a top loaded antenna like a 5' firestick or wilson silver load?

Is your antenna tilted? I mean physical tilt, not electrical tilt

ok , the Wilson is good. If you’re pulling a van a long top load would be better.

if your gonna lean them forward , do it just enough so it’s standing up straight at hwy speeds

    Timin770 Thanks this.

So on my way thru Knoxville yesterday, needed shower so i stopped at Petro. On my way in, CB guy is in his little booth area thingy. I'm a lookin for a Predator 10K to replace the Browning.
    I asked how much for a 10k with a 22 or 27in shaft...."$130" i said "no, i only need one" still $130.
    Ummmmm.....no

Dont need a 10k unless your puttin out lotsa power..
Top loaded as tall as possibe is best all the time....
    Only 5-7 miles??

Take apart all connections and clean..
Even though its an 03 fld and way more metal, run braided straps on the door hinge of the ant side..
Attach one side of braided wite strap to door side of hinge and other to cab side..Might be plastic bushings in the door hinge...Be sure to clean door hinge bolts n holes, same with mirror bracket bolts..
As for ant lean above is correct...
With a box behind you dhould give you better range vs foward.....

Let us know how it works..
Now use this pic to test ant grounding..
