Only downside I found is you can’t get the lo profile ones. Only the “store” sized which hang 2” lower. I run them on all my wagons.

 

i don’t keep straps on winches idk I pull them off when not in use.

They don’t rust out near as fast. Few years on some of mine, some are getting slight rust around wear spots where the winches spin.

When you hit somebody in the head with a hook, and you’re insurance won’t cover it, you might change your mind on throwing the hook over a load. My insurance specifically says it won’t cover somebody getting hit with a hook

 

Yes it is very dangerous to throw the hook over the load. I don’t consider myself a safety Nazi but....


Last week on Monday while on that construction job the guy running the big loader in very tight quarters had all the windows covered in mud except where the wiper sweep was. Like you couldn’t see the driver from outside. On Wednesday afternoon I gave him my brand new can of glass cleaner, paper towels and a scrubbier to clean his windows.

I mean drivers had to sit in the cab wearing vest, hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs and steel toed boots while being loaded but no thought of the guy driving the loader being able to see.

We have to sit in the truck during loading but free to get out and strap while the loader is stacking stuff right next to the trailer.

People are blind to common sense.
