Finding a good setup

Remember, you need a good antenna system! Antenna, mount, coax, proper installation is key. Especially when using an amp. Amps blow up too!

Wasn’t aware of that I always Assumed that the standard 2 Antennas on the trucks mirror Arm 1 was for the CB radio the other was for the TV in the sleeper

If you don't care about SSB, then the Galaxy DX 929 maybe the way to go.

 

That's true on these newer trucks. I'm driving an old 2006 pete, so I forget that some of these newer trucks have 1 CB and 1 tv antenna on the mirrors.

 

Nnnnnoooooooo....dont let them tune your car stereo let alone a radio..Convert only..
Dont need a 10k either..
Look for a skip shooter or firestick,length based on mount point....

Want side band get a 955about 70 watts) or anytone 6666...Dont want side band a stryker 655(70+ wstts) or a nice compact 447hpc2(physically smaller than a cobra but will do about 60 watts...

 

Worry about antenna set up before power....A cobra will go further than 3-5 miles depending on ant choice,mounting position and acc..A 655 or 447hpc2 and no amp...

 

Have 2 strykers now and sold an older one....Closest anything i have had as a "problem" was volume connection...Simple fix to..Pull apart that plug from inside,quick spritz of doxit d5 put it together and your good..

 

I was iowa 80 one night and two fellas cam in the lot with freshly tuned radios from wallcot..My god i went from 19 uo to mid 30,s before i found them....NOT cause they had to s of power but cause othe tune..Two new radios splattering like crazy..I shouldnt be able to hear anything from their radio unless they were sittin a cpl trks away especially when so many ch apart...
2 brand new radios just installed to...Sounded horrible....
