That I am not sure of. I will leave the first question up to the experts.

I just wanted to say I had to look up Tabata after your post. Wow. And some of those kettleball exercises, I would die at first. I am sure it would get better. Let me know how things work out.

I did the exercise with the straight thrusters(basically a full squat with and overhead press) started on 25 pound weights. I had to move down to 15 pound wieghts after four sets. Very intense workout, the workout I started off with was the one from testosterone magazine. They are not kidding when doing the exercise right, you feel your legs and shoulders burning with lactic acid. This workout was the only way for me to lose the last of my pudgy stomach.

Pismo, I just walked out to my retired Central truck (freightliner) to check it out for you:

On my truck, the top bunk folds up but the bottom bunk is stationary as it sits over top of your storage boxes.

Hope that helps in your planning.

Don't beat the book too much and focus on the general knowledge, air brakes and combination vehicles. They will beam in on what you need to know so just save the big time studying for school.

The weight excersizes serve a two-fold purpose,
    1. That you can lift them
    2. Cardio-vasculor check (you wear a monitor during them)

There are three different tests at two weights. 50 and 75 lbs.
    1. Lift from floor to waist
    2. From waist to about eye level
    3. Walk and carry them 53 feet.
Just take your time and don't get in hurry, they are no big deal.

As far as the book, studying the sections is a good idea. They will say they want you to stay up till 2 am studying them, and this is on the first night, so info you pack away ahead of time just put's you that much further ahead in the game. Don't try to memorize the book just study it and familiarize yourself with it. They will teach you most of what you need to know to pass your written test.

Another thing, be honest on your application, if you try to hide something and they find it they will dismiss you.
