Is the paint discolored like overheating? Check water lines for flow to head. Leaking signal line from tank to governor will cause compressor to run more than it needs . Could also just be shoddy rebuilds

Still got one that quit? Take torx headed screws from unloader caps off and see if Orings are still on stems.

If so hold finger over discharge port and turn compressor by hand.

I would highly suspect it’s not compressors going bad. Someone already suggested checking or changing the discharge line which is a good idea. Try checking the inlet line for clogs, and if it’s a rubber line check for collapsing. Also sometimes there is a strainer or filter on the inlet. If it can’t get air it can’t compress air.
