Tomorrow is my last day. Sitting in Laramie tonight...heading into SLC tomorrow to turn in the lease truck.
-
They do like to ruin people. However if you dont owe them money i e for maintenance or something else then you only have to pay the turn in fee. They cant hit your credit as its a 3rd party lease and you are in no way responsible for the actuall truck payments. So if they put something on your dac regarding the lease then it is a pain to get off with USIS but even easier to win in court. People should read the whole lease agreement as to not let England screw them. LOL But then again you could have a scratch from a rock on your truck and they would put it down as a 3k preventable accident...ha ha ha

Seems like CRE decided to make such decisions easier for their lease drivers. My teammate/fiance and I have decided not to sign this new lease. Don't sign and it cancels your contract effective 9-21-09. We, as a team, were doing good to get 2500 miles per week. Funny, solo I was getting 2000/week. Seems this year has just been getting worse for this company.
We have been told that this company is just plain going under, and this is their effort to save the company: screw the drivers.
Problem, as I see it, is this: (no offense to new drivers intended)
They don't screen applicants to their school well, they let anyone in. They do everything possible to get every student through the entire training program. They don't get their grant money if the student doesn't finish. They hire everyone who finishes, put them in a truck...
And their reputation has gone downhill for it. I have been to shippers/receivers who PRAISED ME for bumping dock without hitting anything. 'Scuse me, but isn't that my job? This company has lost big accounts for various reasons, not the least of which was one too many late loads, and driver attitudes.
Improperly trained drivers, drivers who just don't understand how important it is to be ON TIME, and bad attitudes make for a bad company. Simple as that. -
I have read this whole thread from the begining & all I can say is WOW!
I've signed up for the CRE driving course so I could get my CDL. They are the cheapest kids on the block for schooling. I'm planning on paying for the course in lieu of financing it thru them fore I don't want to be beholding to any man. I never had any intention of getting into the lease program. I'm hoping to gain a few months of OTR experince after training & bolt from there.
After reading this & other threads about CRE, I'm wondering if this is sound thinking for someone that wants get their CDL??
Numerous times thru out the thread folks have refered to ruining thier DAC.
What's a DAC?
Best of luck to everyone that is trying to get out their mess.... -
I hate to say this, but if you are going to pay for it rather than be indebted to C R England, have you considered obtaining your CDL through a local Vo-Tech school or community college? I'm pretty sure that will be a lot cheaper than the roughly $3,000 it is through C R England.
On a side note, turned in my lease yesterday, and I've never felt more free. Finished it to completion too! -
Turned mine in last Wednesday. Got a nice letter from CRE acknowledging and congratulating this "important milestone in my driving career". They're trying to make themselves appear more important by this statement, but the irony is that it's SO important for a driver to break free from them, it really IS an "important milestone" in their driving career.
I agree with malefickus on the Votech approach to licensing. The only way I see any good out of CRE's training program is if you're going to run like hell after 90 days and you have a driving job lined up at home that requires that you have formal training. -
Congrads to both of you for getting out of bondage.
Many here have said, you hear the horror stories, you think it won't happen to me & you plunge into the abyss & find out eveyone was right.
I have been accepted into the program & my reasoning behind going w/ CRE for training is as follows:
Most any company I've seen looking for help requires 1 to 3 years of driving experience. It'll cost me 2K w/ CRE instead of going to a 4 week school around here at a cost of 5K. You do the 4 week school, you come out of there with a CDL but no real driving experience. For me it would really suck to get a CDL & not be marketable because you have no experience. If I go w/ CRE I should be able to log 2 1/2-3 months of driving experience between phase 1 & 2. Once completing their 90 day program, I request working the solo regional circuit as it's listed on my application. (I've seen the recent post about company drivers now being only teams) If they can't accomadate that then I have a legit reason to give a notice, leave & at least walk away having a driving reference.
SO, if I'm out in left field w/ this thinking, somebody please shape my head with a 2x4. If there are any other options out there, I'd like to hear about them.
Thanks! -
If you don't mind the lower income, you could kill 6 months with a "demo" lease. It's not a bad gig, you just won't get wealthy. If you go into it knowing that your only purpose is training and initial experience, it'll work. That would put you at the 9 month mark. Heck, get a new truck on a 3 year plan and just give notice and leave after you've had a year total.

theres always a but in there ronin that u are missing besides the lower income. the times you are in the negative or the greatesr chance of a person getting an abonded truck on there dac report
