I think you should get out and go to the companies. That is if you have to. Your job still might be there and they just haven't found a co-driver yet. But I would still try to move up and not down. I believe swift would be a mistake. Why don't you find out some companies around your area and go see them? I do believe you need to leave opinions out and just state facts. I would also have a write up about this other driver stating just the facts and hand that over to the company.

I don't know really what to say. This is exactly how I feel. Harassed and abused. But even after this man left me here last night, I initiated the police call, I called company and they made him come back. In the meantime Im trying to explain some of the situation to officer Harris and even I can tell he is rolling his eyes in his head. When the Co-driver returns, basically the officer took the Co-Driver's side, at least that's how I feel. They watched me get my belongings(which are now growing, because I Have made several equipment purchases for the truck Tie Downs and 2 brooms.) I asked the officer for a ride to motel and he refuses, its not a long walk, but I obviously cant carry all my belongings 1/2 mile in one trip. Officer Harris is kind enough to stay long enough for Co-Driver to pull out of lot. I can only imagine what a lawyer would say to me....... Even the company if I brought this to them... Laughed off. I look like a complete fool for even opening my mouth about all this to the proper people. Boasting 1500 trucks and 2000 drivers, Im sure somewhere similar situations present themselves all the time. The post about tape recorder was so wonderful and beautiful. I feel like I let myself down for not getting one when it would have done me good, I wont go back on the road without one now.

As for your last line Dark, Im hoping you are correct, Im hoping to get home and make that call Tuesday and have some numbers given to me. But if I could place an early wager, Ill bet on this: Luke, can you get back to me tomorrow, Im flooded with calls and QC backlog due to the holiday weekend...... if only I had a million to wager.

As for your response Gashauler, it seems like the only companies that I even qualify for at this point are all the same. CRST will be no different than Swift, than Us Express, than Werner, than, etc... Ive read many horror stories about said companies and Im going through my own horror story now. But once CRST opened the door for me, I realized, this career is what you make it. Ive talked to several company drivers who ARE happy here, happy with Swift, etc. Im not here for the big time paycheck right here and now, and I accept that there are dues that need to be paid for someone like myself to get into this industry. Im not saying I would stay with CRST or Swift or any one company once I get enough time under my belt to open up some options. Apart from this experience here, I learned ALOT ALOT through training, I learned that I have a definite ability to do this work properly, I learned that I can accept the lifestyle, embrace, and enjoy it, and Im only getting started. Ive never felt like this about any other working postion Ive ever been in, hell Ive never been so enthused about my life or lifestyle period.

I fully agree with you though, once I get home and get situated, I will be grinding again to see what companies I can get a rise out of.

As far as current situation, I live about 3.5 hours from Cedar rapids CRST headquarters, if dispatcher doesnt start giving some answers on Tuesday, I will be driving myself there to stir the pot some with other employees/HR.
One of my main issues right now, is that i have no real contacts within the company, I am unsure of the chain of command, obviously my dispatcher is running me around. So then what do I do and whom exactly do I talk to? This job isnt exactly like any other ive ever had and there is still lots I have to learn about handling the situations properly, obviously. And unfortunately, maybe thats ultimately the problem and why Im getting the run around, because I dont know how to properly handle this...........

See if you can get on with a CRST owner operator, lease operator, or whatever they have. Then you will be an indirect employee instead of a direct employee of CRST.

You have made a couple of references to your past and other companies that wouldn't hire you. What do you have in your past?

The first time a co-driver/mentor/whoever disrespected me enough to self-invite themselves to my place to crash, or started going thru property that wasnt theirs, they get a, "....excuse me....but WHAT THE !#$% ARE YOU DOING !?!?!?" I catch them doing it again, and I'd grab a bag of their stuff, open a window, and just dump its contents THEN the bag out the window.

Hi, I am glad they are getting you a bus ticket home. I am going to be home until Tues AM if something happens and the ticket didn't come through. I pm'ed you my cell number the other night, don't hesitate to use it if you wind up still stuck there.

With any luck at all the other guy will screw something up in the next day or two. Maybe they will team him with someone and more complaints will follow.

Good luck man, hang in there

I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to you. I have a really big dog now...I got him right after I tried team driving...which lasted 1 day. When I was new..I'll admit this now, since I don't do it anymore.LOL!...I used to cry when I got frustrated, yeah, yeah,I got over it! So I got teamed up with a new guy and I thought I could help him out, too. Well, when he got frustrated he had a different way of reacting. At out first stop together he was backing into the dock when picked up his fist and said he was gonna smash my face in...I swear I was just sitting there, ready to help if he needed it. I called 911 and the freakin' cop treated it like it was a domestic dispute...grrrr!
I told the cop I'm working, this truck is my office and I just got physically threatened...didn't do any good. I was told to drop him off at the nearest trm..bye bye C/D...hello Earl.

I had a trainer who was a complete bunghole and after the third time of nearly deliberately killing him I quit and got out of his truck. Problem was, I quit in California, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. And the guy got fired when I made it back to the terminal near home and complained.

Why can't you just put a load of Exlax in his Cappacino? And NAIR in his boxers (or his baseball cap)? And doggie-doo in the toes of his boots? Make his life hell and shrug your shoulders if he asks about it. Or maybe give him that Jack Nicholson PSYCHO look and tell him about the 17 bodies you dismembered and left strung over 5 states. And then start sharpening your buck knife continuously when you're not behind the wheel. He'll get away from you soon enough.
