6 to 4 pin setup

    Hi All

    Well, i bought a 4 pin mic for my sons 6 pin Bearcat 880 on Ebay. I caught the error before it was shipped and emailed the guy to send a 6 pin. No reply and he went ahead and sent the 4 pin mic. I know there are adapters out there but I was wondering if any of you might have a clear diagram of how to modify the 4 pin to work as a 6 pin? As an example: pin 1 on the four pin connector is actually pin 3 on the 6 pin connector. I would like to give it a try before i spend another $12 on the adapter. Thanks!

    Your 880 didn't come with a 4 to 6 pin "pig-tail"adapter? I know they use to send those adapters from the factory with New radios in the box...Pig-tails on ebay are "Hit or Miss" at best...They come out of China, I bought a 4 to 5 pin one once for a Cobra 2000 that didn't work, so I contacted the seller who sent me another one, which also didn't work...Never had a issue tho with the short metal adapters...have one on the cobra and my President McKinley.

    4 pin Cobra/Uniden standard -

    1- Shield/Common
    2 - Audio
    3 - TX
    4 - RX

    Pretty sure this is the layout for the Uniden 880/980

    1 - Audio
    2 - RX
    3 - TX
    4 - N/C
    5 - Shield
    6 - 7.8 VDC (voltage on this pin so be careful, not used)

    If you buy a 4-to-6 pin adapter make sure it's for the radio you're using. 4-to-6 adapters are not universal.
