Well the super 10 and 13 speed became a moot point. Road test went like this. I decided to leave early because the school I went to had 1 truck with a super 10 that no one ever wanted to take out, so I went there first and asked the yard manager at the school if it was possible for someone to take me out in it so I could run through the gears a few times.... done deal. I hit the road with an instructor and did pretty well, I really like that transmission. So I get back to the shcool and I have 40 min plus to make it to my road test when I notice I have a missed call on my cell.

It was the company I was going to test for. Fearing the worst, a never mind we are going to hire someone else or a can we reschedule the test for sometime next week I called them back.... they want to know if I can come to the yard right away. I tell them I am headed that way but atleast 25 min out. No problem they say, just call when I get there. I show up and call and they tell me there is another driver comming and I should meet up with him and wait for the boss. I do that and have to run the driver down the street to get his truck from the Freighliner shop and when we get back the boss shows up with another old freigtliner that he tells me to hook up to a trailer. I do this then he tells me to follow the other driver in this truck down to Columbus to pick up a load and bring it back to the yard in Cleveland... if I pass this I will be driving for them.

Well I got there, got the load, got back ok after having to stop and check a low tire and then twice to put air in it and when I called from the yard they sent me down the street to take a drug test.

Tomorrow I head out following the boss to Albany to deliver the load. The best thing to me is that the truck has a regular 10 speed in it. It is so nice to be working!!!

Ok this is the weirdest companies road test or pre hire test I've ever heard of. Are they going to pay you for the work you have already done? how are they insuring you on these test drives since your not a employee yet?

I've also driven quite a selection of transmissions i prefer the 18 speed thou, it just has a nice variety of gears to choose from and was always really helpful when I worked in the hills of PA doing oilfield work
