I don't think this is harsh. I know that this is coming from someone who has been in this game for a while. It makes sense why they fired me. I was arrogant and I rightfully suffered the consequences. I appreciate you for this and I'll definitely do better!

Going forward I recommend that you come here to these forums daily and read. I do not know your situation or the level of training that you received, but if you visit these forums, you will read from people who have had years of experience, sometimes maybe even as much experience as you have been alive (that's my situation).
Read replies to questions that interest you, also create your own threads, as I have done. This forum has never steered me wrong.chitaylor Thanks this. -

This accident, as well as several others, led the PA Turnpike authority to really tighten down on how trucks park. It also led some carriers to prohibit the practice. While it may sound "stupid" to some, there is a good reason carriers don't want their drivers to stop like this. If you were told to stop doing so then to continue to do so you were not fired because of "safety concerns", you were fired because of insubordination. This goes back to my first comment. Change that attitude.
Hopefully, you can go your entire driving career and not be involved in an accident that becomes fatal or someone is maimed. I know several that have. One of my uncles drove his entire career for a company in Georgia called Lithonia Lighting. He was! To the day he died, he grieved over that accident. I have become acquainted with several more over the years. I know another driver that just went out to the riverbank early one morning and shot himself. I know a guy that did local deliveries for a ready mix company called Williams Brothers in Northeast Georgia. He also was. I stood and watched him come to tears remembering that horrible day. He could no longer drive.
Think about the above while reading this. When you park anywhere on a roadway, a highway interchange exit or entrance ramp, you expose the rear of your rig to traffic. These people are not paying attention to their driving. Here is an example of how easy this happens.

I see. That's incredibly depressing.
That really could have been me. I don't want to be involved in an accident like that ever.Farmerbob1 Thanks this.
