What if it Snows?

well if you accidentally throw your hat up in the window and it blocks the view. It wasn't intentional. lol

 

I had one like that with Crete. In two months. I got one alert. Over 70 on downhill. They pulled it asap.

 

Over 70? Mine would be sending alerts constantly lol. I run between 68 and 72 when loaded and 70-75 when empty and I need to get somewhere.

 

That’s another indicator to me about Crete’s level headedness. I was up there good at 74-75 sustained. Perfect conditions. Smooth. Had plenty of opportunities for it to knit pick me. Running a few feet past stop sign. Or a little past speed limit sign before I hit it. Has to do with how they set it up. Obviously done by people who have driven.

 

I felt the same way when my company put dash cams in... I started running my own several months before they put thiers in.

Its set up like yours, tied to my ELD automatically uploads and goes off based on company set parameters.

Its not fool proof, it will see a sign for IL HYW 40 and think its a speed limit... When the limit is 70 on I-80. It will trip for tailgating when its raining hard, even when no one is in front of me for miles. Or it will see the guard rail in a curve and trip for tailgating.

Most of the alerts I get are for "over speeding"... A company set parameter if I go over 77 mph, then again if I go over 80 mph. Rarely get the 80 mph one, but get the 77 mph one alot in WY and UT.

 

No just a camera... But when I get a new truck it will have that other crap as well... I may have to find new employment after that... Not keen on it hitting the brakes on an icy WY road cause a deer steps out in front of me.

 

Keep your old truck then. Or seek out a older tractor.

Tell them that your continued employment depends on that if you are set on never having forward radar. I know if I was in your position that is exactly how it's going to play out on my part if a company put me on the spot to get that radar. Which I wont accept.

I remember back in the 90's everyone was selling conventionals as opposed to cabovers as a recruitment tool. Among other things.

And here we are again full circle back to the old ways.

 

If I could keep my truck I would... But company is on a 500k mile trade in program with the dealer. I will definitely try to get another one that doesnt have it while I can. If not I will... I will have to cross that bridge when I get there. Likely if I quit, I would leave trucking all together, as I havent been able to find another company that offers what I have where I'm at now. Maybe I could get on with one of the local grain train companies or bull haulers... But I dont think they pay as well as I get now.
