I work for a company that just texted me today saying that I may receive a dispatch after 5pm for the next day and if that was ok. I repelled just holler cause I don't know what could or not be happening or going on at that time. And he replied that it was forced dispatch. I'm in TN all nonessential businesses are closed per federal and state law. And I haul for a nonessential company. Can they legally do forced dispatch? I have been off since March 22nd. And the bill that was passed has us shutdown so far till April 21st. They won't lay us off so I cant get unemployment. Just really don't like the ideal of forced dispatch never have and especially now with this corona going on.

Well you're a truck driver. So hard to say you're not Essential. I suspect to answer your question more info would be needed. Such has maybe who you work for, or what they transport...etc. Cuz a reefer is essential right now, heck really any truck "type" is and your company might have picked up some contracts with essential shippers.

What is this force you speak of or is it a strong suggestion. Are they threatening your employment status. You are a citizen of a free country if you’re tough enough to wheel around in traffic you should be tough enough to make your own decisions about work.

If you dont like the companies rules why not find another one that doesn't force dispatch?

And the Corona thing is so overrated it's not even funny...

Let's all repeat this. There is no forced dispatch! Only you can turn the key.

The first sentence in your post doesn't seem like forced dispatch.
Dispatcher asked you if a dispatch is ok.
