I pissed the sales guy off at Ford last summer. Platinum F450 diesel on the lot. Asked him what's to stop me from crossing the street and buying an M2 from Freightliner? Couple grand more but 2x the truck. He didn't like the comment......

I know, just razzing you. -
I know nothing
but it’s sad when even the base 4x4 trims are going on 50k to 60k brand new. :/ -
They're just so big. We're talking about a girl that ripped the front bumper off her civic backing out of a friends driveway. Old style Ford Ranger would be perfect, but it's next to impossible to find one with less than 100k on it, and if you do, price is mid 20's. Not paying that for a 15 year old truck. I've pretty much decided on a Frontier. Not that it makes much difference, can't get titles transferred or purchase a vehicle in PA now anyway.

Its utterly insane. That '12 ram I pictured cost just shy of $41k new.! Only new vehicle I've ever owned. I felt that was steep at the time. Sure, it was quote "a base model", yet was equipped the same as my '99 SLT Laramie.. Good luck even finding a 1/2 ton for that kind of money now..

Tell me about it. 10 years ago I bought a brand new 4x4 GMC extended cab. It was a trim level above base with a few extra options like electronic 4x4, fancy wheels and remote start. Under $36k Canadian with a spray in bedliner.

I'm running a '97 Ford F-250 HD, 351, auto (wish it was manual). Two years ago, the head on the right bank developed a pin hole leak, from the inside out, and was oozing anti-freeze. First time I've ever seen this happen to a gas engine.
Changed out the head, but the fuel injector rails were rotted pretty good and started to leak too. Guess what, you can't get them anywhere, OE or aftermarket. Well, I'm not scrapping the truck for this.
Long story short, I refitted the engine with an Edelbrock intake manifold & a 4 bbl Holley 600 cfm carb. Because it uses a throttle position sensor to shift the abominable automatic trans, my brother, a machinist, built a throttle plate & linkage to utilize the TPS so it shifts properly. Because it's over the 8600# weight rating, it's exempt from emissions testing. Truck runs better now then it did before, end of problem....1951 ford, Eldiablo, whoopNride and 11 others Thank this. -
Mazda B series pickups are pretty much ford rangers since they bought them back around ~'93-'94.. Might be able to find a nice one for a good deal..?

diesels hold they’re value well, no doubt about that... but I can’t justify 20k+ on a truck with over 150k mileage no matter which flavor of juice it likes to drink.
tacomas, Jeep’s, and the smaller half tons are no better. Just as expensive, just as poor fuel economy, and who knows if it’ll last 250k with all the techno junk strapped to the motor.
I’d like a diesel with a manual again. And I want it to go to 250k.... which is 20-25 years for me... or until it costs more to replace the motor than the truck is worth. Or until I drive it off a cliff....
But with this virus I may keep my head down until summer. :/ -
Not getting into you business. Just that I would tend to agree on waiting a little longer. I think your gonna see prices drop even more. Could you get buy with a cash price beater for a bit?
Your down in the hills and sticks, get a 80's-90's of any brand full size. You will appear as a native.
