Here is a solid performer, its very aggressive but works very well. It has a Reg back up so you can"UnDo"
http://www.amltools.com/Baack Thanks this. -
I use TrendMicro Client/Server Messaging Security Suite.
Naturally, it's not free by any means, but I don't pay for it.
-
When I did the scan it came up with almost 300 items
Fixed them
So what exactly did it fix in the registry
-
Couldnt tell ya ??? LOL!!
First time I ran it I had over 800 issues and it squared them right up.

You guys really shouldn't be messing with registry cleaners.
Usually cause more harm than good.
I didn't see anyone mention the free A-V from pc tools.
I've used it in the past and liked the way it worked. Was far less bothersome than AVG or Avira.
One side of me thinks the free ones are good enough, while the other side thinks $50 or $60 dollars a year for a better? product to protect your investment and keep your data safe? is a good investment. -
I use AVG pro, never had an issue, and I do alot of warez and cracking stuff.
AVG is also the reason I've been playing wow for 5 years, with 4 different pcs, and 8 different accounts and still have never had my account stolen, which is VERY prevalent in wow. In fact, I have 11 friends who had their account stolen in the last month lol.
I also would highly recommend you guys get a backup site, if you do not have a raid hd copy setup because HD failure SUCKS. I lagged on it and loss a year worth of pics, videos, art, and stories when the HD failed.
As for reg cleaners, you are correct, they do more harm then good. In fact EVERY time I've used one its made me have to reinstall windows within a week. -
Glad you mentioned the back-ups.
I too learned the hard way how important they are.
A 500 gb external hard drive can be had for less than $100.
System restore can be iffy, at best.
A backup will save all your pics, music, documents etc.
An image will restore your computer back exactly the way it was, say 1 week ago. Pics, files, favorites, settings etc.
If I get bit by a virus, or software crashes my computer, I can be back where I want in less than hour.
Acronis True image can be had for about $40. There are free imaging programs available, but I've never used any.
The best place to find free software of all types is
techsupportalert dot you know what.
Linux may be good, but I want software that works out of the box.
I don't want to spend an hour or more trying to get it to work with Linux.Baack Thanks this. -
One thing to remember, is that no matter what AV you use, and no matter how careful you are, things can still happen. The hackers are hard at work trying to circumvent any AV program that is out there. Once in a while, they will get something by even the best AV programmers, if only for a short period of time.
If you happen to be in the wrong site, at the wrong time, congratulations, you now have something to worry about...
