Portable AC units meant for apartments typically use twice as much power (watts) and provide about half as much cooling as a similar BTU-rated window air conditioner. They are also typically twice as expensive, if not more.
Any small home/apartment air conditioner will draw at least 1,000 watts of electricity, if not twice that. Even if you had an inverter able to supply those watts your truck batteries would be dead in maybe an hour. You would have to run your truck engine if you wanted to start the next morning. If your truck engine is running, just use your truck air conditioner.
With air conditioning, if it's inexpensive, it's probably not very effective. If it's effective, it's not inexpensive.truckdriver31 and dztruck Thank this. -
