Ten week course, 46 hours a week, must complete 43 hours each week. PTDI Certified, and $2300 for the full cost. It's at the Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI. I'm going there pretty much regardless, since I'm moving back in with my mother, and really want to continue the path to my dream.

So, anyone here have any knowledge about the school or it's course? Besides, I know that PTDI Cert. is great, but will it grant me a leg up over someone who went to a fifteen day CDL Mill?

One of the best schools in the nation, your lucky to have it so close. It so sad to see that with all the state taxes in WI, that the price is almost double what the same PTDI program is here in TN at the the local technical college......and if you score the lottery grant, half of it is covered regardless of your status. None the less, the price for that quality education you will get a Fox Valley will be a bargin over the 3 week private schools for over $5-6k.

Go over to the PTDI website and it will give you all the details your seek about about what is taught at the classes. I would get your schools book list and get the books early and save a ton off of Amazon or used books.com. I got that PTDI text newest edition, a $55 book, for 15 bucks off amazon and it was still wrapped in the plastic!! I have a collection of driver text books from many sources.....what can I say, I'm a geek!

    FVTC costs were 1,655.00 Tuition
94.00 Books, including McNally trucking atlas, Regs. book,CMV operation text book, log books for 3 months and clipboard/carrying case
85.00 CDL test fee (this they then pay to the WDMV)
I paid maybe 15.00 for IP and about 60 for CDL with 2 endorsements

    School runs 43 hrs/wk x 10 wks
    PTDI certified

I thought that pricing that Adrian stated was a little high for a state school, but again I'm sure Paratroop would agree well worth the education. I'm not putting down the private schools, but I just dont know how they feel confident with such lack of seat time.

Adrians stated cost may include some form of housing or subsistance. the prices I mentioned are recent, as I just checked off of thier site and calling the vets rep. in admissions.
Compaired to the cost of mills and or company sponsored schools, FVTC is cheap I feel.
And, when I was there I never operated a truck with more than 2 bodies total in vehicle. That included me as a driver or passenger.

Unless you have relatives in the area, where you could stay, I would contact them and ask if they will send you a list of area places that support short term lease/rent. Apartments and the like.
Please beware. If your schooling happens to start during one "semester" and finish in a different one, you will get a 2 week vacation during school.

Also, a friend of mine was ready to apply and had to wait 2months for an opening starting class.
Fall/winter would probably be easiest to get into, but keep in mind you will spend alot of time outside.
Any other ? I will help where I can.
