That took me back.
Im not certified anything on those #### things, but Ive been known to move pallets into trailers with some a time or two. They can do all teh yelling they want after.
Afraid to drive again.

They are pathetically slow off the line. You could mash on it count to 5 before you start moving, and this is with one of those 12 speed Endurants, which is supposedly one of the better ones.
They always try to lug incessantly, so at the slightest incline you lose momentum for the inevitable downshift. God help you if you’re loaded and fighting a headwind. The stupid thing will be bouncing back and forth constantly between the top two gears.
Before you say “just cruise at a lower gear”, which my truck likes better anyway, the newer ones have an 11th gear top speed limiter in manual mode, so that doesn’t even work.
Having experienced those things personally, Hell will freeze over before I accept any idiot’s idea that an electronic box is somehow better at doing what I have done for years without a hiccup. -

And a Automatic makes you look like a first week out of truck school newbie when trying to back.
Bounce bounce bounce and as soon the 5th wheel angles enough pressures might even stall out causing many to point and laugh.
I take joy in tearing apart the stupid automatics.
What I really hated was consider this.
You are southbound on the cross bronx. A car gets in your way on purpose in the rain. After all that is sorted your foot goes back down on the floor to get moving because there is a herd coming on you.
Come on automatic let's go now.
.....
hurr hurr hurr clunk! finally moves out at a glacial 18 mph building speed slowly.
That would be the one time I slap her into manual mode and started walking her off pronto back to 60. She didnt like it. In other words anything that disrupts it confuses it badly. And it will sit there in N and think a while while your world ends.
Stupid engineers.
I should tie them to the steer fender and give them a ride.
I swear I think the engineers took joy in making sure that a automatic truck cannot be thrown around harshly with power as you can with a manual.
Reminds me of the old TV series that featured a computer named Hal.
"We are sorry Dave, cannot do that now." half the series was essentially a red light showing the poor viewer what they cannot do today for a hour at a time in the 70's -

We have reverse, drive, Manual, N and Park. That's it.
None of that fancy crawl nothing. Remember it was a early automatic. When you backed with it you backed with one move with the clutch all the way out. Since reverse was same as first, shes fast backing into dock. -
x1Heavy Thanks this.

I try to stay current. More or less. I'll die a trucker even if my opinions and thoughts may not be revelant. LOL.
