why does it take a mass gathering to get us started?

Science is the only way to fight this virus. Medical science has saved my life twice, due to two heart attacks. Medical science has saved my wife’s life by removing her acutely damaged pancreas, while preserving the cells that produce insulin. So she has no pancreas, but does not take insulin.

What is it about people that will not believe in the power of science to track this virus, identify ways to avoid transmission of the virus, identify ways to treat the virus, and to develop a vaccine to protect us from the vaccine?

I just hope our leaders continue to follow the best advice of our scientists in the field of epidemiology. Those folks are our best hope....

 

That is part of our Bill of Rights I believe. The only way it can be thrown away by authority is if under Martial or Military Rule in very bad times. Some Mayors or Governors confused a Medical problem with the need to defer to Military Rule and make mistaken orders to ban Churches in some areas.

I did a little research in Baltimore on Spanish Flu. The reason they called it that was the Spainards were very accurate in reporting. Baltimore has a particular cemetery downtown on a hill in Section MM where thousands of flu deaths were buried. Called that Flu hill in 1918. Eventually it mutated and we move on. Its not fun I caught it this year. Medicines were availible now that did not exist then. Or I would not be here. Its that simple.

Covid19 has been bad yes and needed changes yes and so on so forth. But the faster we develop a society immunity or use antigen, antibodies or vaccines and get moving forward with reopening everything the better all of us will be. If we continue to sit here at home unable to spend money for months or more its going to be a real problem.

What I worry about is Iran. They are beginning to consider Covid19 a bioweapon worthy of making formal war against the United States. They will be very dumb to do that. But wars sometimes begin that way when a Nation decides that they have had enough and strike. Thats enough to keep me up at night.

 

You might not understand this.. but the POTUS doesn't have the authority to shut down states. That falls to each Governor however even a state Governor can not shut down a entire state for a heath related pandemic. The best the Governor can do is order a state of emergency and set curfew.

The state can shut down state highways & state properties, the federal govt can shut down the federal highway system and federal properties.. but they can not make you stay in your home.. Perhaps they can arrest you if you are on state property or a public road way but they can't make you stay at your home.

Legally the only person who can force you to stay in your house due to a medical quarantine is the county heath commissioner in your individual county. Added to this he can't even do a blanket stay at home order. Legally he has to issue a order for each specific person "AND" they have to prove that you are either infected or have been in contact with someone infected and have reason to believe you are infected..

Essentially the reason they aren't arresting people and all these stay at home or\ders are kinda wishy washy, it's because they are.. The govt is bluffing people because they need us to stay home but don't really have the authority to force us to..

For the record I'm not saying we should ignore the stay at home orders, because I also think it's necessary, but legally they can't make us..

However if you run a business or for example these churches who refuse to obey, they will simply hit them from a different angle. They will pull their occupational permits or the health inspector will shut that that specific place.. Meaning yes if push comes to shove they can go case by case and shut people down, but they can't do it in a mass blanket ban, so a Governor ordering you to stay home is a bluff.

well never said that everyone has got their brains functioning. I think they had Easter drive thru/up services yesterday in many places. So that is one example of dumbness. Where everywhere else it seems common sense prevailed.
