yeah when I used to pull my boat. I learned early on. Grab the bottom of the wheel when backing. That way you're turning your hand the way the trailer will turn.

If you are helping back a driver up, stand in front of their truck so they can see you. It also makes it easier for you to see each side as they do. That noise is probably the hill start assist. It tends to kick in when the truck is at a large angle to thr trailer. I think it is the pressure difference on the air bags.
For those who haven't had to back an auto - starting and stopping is part of the game. Either the truck takes off too fast, or not at all. You can be creeping along just fine but then the truck just goes and you have to hit the brakes quick.RidgeRunner731, WesternPlains and 650cat425 Thank this. -
