They will run even for $1.2 or $1 dol per mile because equipment payments and insurance are fixed costs and they have to be paid regardless. If they park their trucks and do not generate any revenue at all, they will have insurance defaulted and the truck/trailer repossessed. They hope that they can outlast the bad period on the market and when it is over they will stay in business.
Not all of them are assuming to receive 10K relief check nor 1K a week payroll subsidy, either. Neither can they cancel their insurance (receive a refund) and sell their financed trucks.
Yeah...they will run for 90 cent per mile too, before their trucks are hauled away.
