I just placed my application with Swift. The recruiter said they did all my background and they would now be processing my application. How long does this process take?

Well, I know an internal employee who is trying to get his wife into class and he is expected to wait a week or two. I'm not sure if money is playing a factor in availability (she will go for free). They are in Phoenix.

LH I'm in the Phoenix area. I've talked to one particular recuiter through out my application process. She's been helpful albeit off base on one aspect of signing on. Were you given these steps to follow also? I was sent an email with a "Past Employment Release" to be filled out and FAXed or mailed back. She also sent an email address along with passwords to be used to take a series of CDL test topics. Each involves a brief Swift intro video leading into short CDL tests. I was told completion of these were a prerequisite before a training date could be established. The process is simple enough. I've a CDL B now with 3 endorsements thus this program struck me as overkill yet I can grasp the reasoning. She relayed to me that after completing these I won't start training at their Phx headquarters until later in October. So that's my timeline, 4-6 weeks for the Phoenix location.

Well I haven't gotten as far as you yaa. I did fill out the past employement release but nothing on the CDL test topics. I already have my Class A CDL (I did not go to school for it, just studied on my own and passed about 5 yrs ago. I have no experience so I am having to start from square 1.

I heard from my recruiter last week and I was approved. They didn't have any spaces available for Sept so I am on the list to start sometime next month. Can anyone tell me if Swift requires a Hazmat endorsement?

LH. i am fixing to go to school in san antonio in a few weeks myself. From what i was told they dont REQUIRE hazmat. BUT. it would be a plus. just in case u get in a spot where perhaps there isnt any freight movin except hazmat it would help u get a load out of there faster. go to hazprints.com and fill out the neccesary form and they will get to doing a background check and get u approved. and most companies smile upon a hazmat also. so its something to think about.

You guys, my experience with Swift was actually an ok one. I quit because of my DM. But Swift other than the DM was a decent company to me. They were ignorant at first with verifying my employment wound up only doing a week with a trainer instead of all 6 due to the fact they finally talked to someone who could verify I drove for 6 months at my job prior to that one. They used to have this simulator class you had to take, which was 3-4 hours, and all unpaid. I quit over my DM telling me to take it and never getting me anywhere to take it. They said they put "dissatisfied with company policy" on my termination report. Which when I applied the other day my recruiter, Chuck Davis told me he could tell me right then they wouldnt rehire me, at least not right then. I did call the DM I had at the time when I worked there and quickly remembered why I didnt like her. And yes, at that time I did tell them once or twice I didnt care about a class I wasnt getting paid for. Just to find out "well we dont do it anymore" she said. Obviously I wasnt the only one that did not think it was unfair to be working, on line 4 for 3-4 hours and not see one red cent. But oh well. You guys will like it though I am sure. Except for the low rate per mile when you are first in your own truck.
