in october i had to quit driving cause i got home and my heart stopped due to rythem interuption.i was out there for 21 yrs and find it hard to swallow to have to stop my lifelong career.anyway ive had this pacemaker/difibulator in since october 08 and have had no interuptions in my heart what so ever.it didnt go off or pace my heart.ive been normal.my question is this.....if the DOT says you can legally drive with a pacemaker in,then why cant i drive with a pacemaker/difibulator??i know it shocks you in case you need it but im safer now than i ever was without it.and they say you have pleanty of warning if it does go off.time enough to pull off safely.so why cant i drive now..the doctors told me that the DOT laws on this are 10yrs behind.i think its about time for an update to this.any comments/suggestions are very muck welcomed.
any other ex-drivers out there
