Hello.....
I took my 2015 Volvo to have the front and rear axle seals replaced because of the major leaks it was leaving on the ground. I get the truck out a week later. Get under a 30,000 lb load and 400 miles down the road the check engine light came on. Error code on the dash is MID 140 PID 77 FMI 5 and when I searched the Volvo Service Manual the code states 'FORWARD REAR AXLE TEMPERATURE' Abnormally low current or open circuit | Sensor resistance above 100 kOhm | Faulty harness Faulty outdoor temperature sensor.
I have the following questions:
Is this something the mechanic missed when doing the seals? Either checking a plug or circuit was bad or forgot a procedure step?
Can this cause serious damage?
Can this cause a trickle effect of problems in other areas?
Thank you for your help.
Joe

I would look and see if the wires were plugged up on the sensor.

Is this something I can see or will have to take back to the shop?Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Yes you can see. Should be wires going to the rear of the axle housing. About 1/3 of the way from the bottom of the big round part. Be easiest to see on rear most driver axle. That will give you an idea of where to look on front drive axle.

Piece of black tape over the code error light,,just another reason you can have newer trucks. Old "Stewart-Warner" temp gauge never let me down.
KeepUp Thanks this.
