NYC residents are struggling to get groceries. I know a lot of them crossing bridges/tunnels to get to Jersey for grocery shopping. It takes a major disaster to appreciate fellow trucker in most coast states. Not to mention their attitudes, tolls, fines and fees there are draconian. As a trucker, if I didn’t live there I would try not to deliver/pick up there.

That's actually great news! I am actually helping another account today because mine is shut down. I'll end up delivering to CT or Long Island.

My attitude is more of a you didn't care about us before, but you are going to treat us decent now that you are desperate ? Screw you, starve.

Sad part is, as Buffett said “There’s a sucker born every day”... Someone will take loads to NYC rather than park their truck or to get home.DrFlush Thanks this.

Meanwhile, I was just thinking this morning that Vince Lombardi in Jersey is closed. They've embarked on a total overhaul of that rest area over the next year (started in October I think?) and it didn't occur to anyone that they were taking out the biggest truckstop near NY.
They should allow parking at Giants Stadium for at least the next month. It's not like it's being used otherwise.
Had to see where they put these places. Hunts Point and a container terminal on Staten Island, okay I guess. Neither one is gonna improve the OTR drivers opinion of NYC. Article's wrong about one thing though, majority of NYC's food comes from regional haul out of PA & CT, not OTR. But then DiBlasio's always been an idiot.
(*psst* I gotta a secret. There are places to hide in NYC. Not saying where, but there are more than a few owner operators who live in the 5 boroughs and manage to take their trucks home for their time off. Not saying where, but they do exist.)Last edited: Apr 21, 2020

Or be the idiot like me at 21 taking loads into there not knowing anything about NYC at all.
I learned. Oh did I learn.
Even if they opened a thousand rest areas I would not park there. Too many parasites.Doealex Thanks this.
