I applied for a City P&D position in Pittsburgh (McKees Rocks), PA. I keep my fingers crossed because a place like this would be wonderful to build a career with. I have all the endorsements (Hazmat pending. Long story; Got clearance in 06, company said I didn't need it so I never went back to get it. So I just re-applied and paid the fee again!) so I am good to go.

Most companies tell me as long as I can prove I am in the process of getting hazmat, I can start. I hope they're right; sitting at home sucks!

It seems like EVERY time they're hiring, it's always somewhere far away! When I lived in Greensboro, NC, Pittsburgh always had really good jobs. I think ABF is hiring out in that side of PA as well.

    Keep trying, guys.

And it's true...the DOT generally leaves us alone. Example:

New Mexico. Green light 95% of the time. When we're red-lighted, the guy at the credential check booth waves us on through. If he's not there, we pull around...and no sooner do I step in the door than I hear, "Get outta here, FedEx." :yes2557:

We roll legit, and they know it. The lack of DOT/LEO hassles alone is worth this job. The killer pay, regular schedule, not running broken junk, not ever falsifying, hometime, and benefits don't hurt none, either. :biggrin_25525:

    Hey penguin,

Do you know if they are hiring in Arizona?

How would it work if I got a job with them in Nevada, would i have to go there every day?

Well, bro, I'm still trying to get a buddy of mine on at our terminal after a couple of months. No hiring in AZ yet, but you can check the careers part of their website(usually updated Tues/Thurs) and hope.

There may be a major upheaval in October in our area, so keep checking. I don't think we even have runs between NV and AZ...at least FXNat doesn't.

LTL companies had waiting lists even before the economy did its death spiral into the fires of hell itself. It's worse now--much worse.

    Hints for FX employment:

You may have to suck it up and relocate. I live 100 miles from the terminal, and I just bought a small camper to stick in a trailer park down the street because it's cheaper and less hassle than going home every day. I'd move across the country to get a job like this--if your wife/husband doesn't have a lot going on in the employment field, you might consider it.

Willing to team? YES. Now, you most likely will not have to. FXN is cutting down on the teams, but it shows that you'll do whatever it takes to get on board. I did it for a year, and it worked out fine once I killed my co-driver and buried him in the desert. :biggrin_25523:

Keep checking the website, updated usually Tue/Thur. Opportunities spring up everywhere at random.

It's the best company I've ever seen and the best job I've ever had. I applied a year before they called me back...and it was worth the wait.
