I'm about to get hired on with a company and they want to know where I'll park the truck on days home. I live in a neighborhood and the HOA wont be ok with this. Can I park it for a couple days at a truck stop or any other ideas, what do yall do? I live in San Antonio's TX so if yall know a spot and your from here let me know.
Also one other thing it's been 10 years since my discharge from the military. I was released with a other then honorable discharge this was for illegal use of a substance. Yes I was dumb and young but I did it and iv been working ever since unfortunately just got laid off from my last company after 6 years employed with this, oilfield has taken a terrible dive and unfortunately I'm no longer with them. So question is do I need to provide a dd214 or even let them know I was militarily since it's been so long?

I've heard some park at storage lots. Like where they keep RVs plus they have those storage units. You'd have to pay $xx.xx a month, though.
tscottme Thanks this. -
I live in San Antonio, and I park behind the Walmart on Jones Maltsburger (?) Near 410/281

Brandon Marr Thanks this. -
regarding the parking, try industrial parks. you can try shopping malls, but YOU MUST talk with the manager of either the corporation that owns the land, or the manager of the anchoring store. but even still that person may not be able to allow parking.
you can try storage companies as well, maybe street parking near them?
personally, the first time i was applying for a job and was told i need to find parking? i said fogedaboudit.
some companies like Schneider told me to find a secured place to park. i did, but that place wanted $50 per month, and that was on me, Schneider would NOT reimburse me, and they wanted secured parking...needless to say, i told them what they can do with thier equipment.
every single job i have ever had, after that fiasco, i parked on COMPANY property, otherwise, i'd not take the job.
can't help you on the military thing, but i have to wonder when they run your SS number, they will find out..??
others will chime in on that.tscottme, x1Heavy and Brandon Marr Thank this. -
I never put military service on any job application.
I leave it blank.piston865 and Brandon Marr Thank this. -
Don’t worry about the DD214, if there’s a question about military service it’s usually just the dates they’re looking for. Should be lots of places to park in SA ask your company to help find you a safe place to park.

Other then being told I have to leave it at the yard if I request time off near one; my actual residence is a farm with space for lots of semis... but is too close to a yard.
They also let me take it anywhere I’ve got family and haven’t told me any parking requirements. I wouldn’t mind finding somewhere more secure than just a truck stop tho. -
Park at a truck stop. Its not unusual for trucks to stay in the same spot for a week,

If you park at a truck stop, make sure its ok with the truck stop manager.
Sure don't want to return and find your truck has been towed and now owe thousands in storage & towing fees.
It's not like the old days when truck stops were truck and truck driver friendly.Lumper Humper, buddyd157, tscottme and 2 others Thank this. -
With all that protected Veteran bs they use now I just say no , only person it benefits is the company , some get tax breaks for hiring a Vet something nobody ever shared with me.
Deadwood and Brandon Marr Thank this.
