Sorry you didnt know better than to work for a Gainey co. So heres some advice, never work for LCT, Super Service, or GTS because you will get robbed. This is one of the shadiest large fleets i have ever seen. I remember when i worked for LCT they had to recall all of their brake pads, and drums due to the fact that they were bought from a cheap aftermarket company and were not up to spec. I have no idea how they stay in business but im guessing its the money that they rip off from the drivers that allows them to keep their doors open. Gainey is a two-bit hoodlum who couldnt care less for his drivers. If you do go to work for Gainey and you need to feed your family be prepared to steal your food from truckstops so that you can send a crappy little check home to your family. The only people that i can advice to go work for gainey are the homeless. This is ideal for them. You get a rollin house and a meal a day.

I was working for gainey for about 3 months. I was out on the road sitting and waiting on a load. Every time I called dispatch they told me that they would find me a load tomorrow. This went on for 4 days. GTS has a policy that if you quit without bringing the truck back to the yard that they will put a bad report on you D.A.C. and will charge you for having to recover the truck. With that in mind, I called dispatch. I told them that I was quiting and bringing the truck back to the yard. Well, I made as far as St. Louis and was pulled over. Gainey called the police and told them that I stole the truck. I was pulled over with by St.Louis police, Missouri State Police, and the U.S. Marshalls. I had guns pointed at my head, police were screaming at me to get out of the truck and lay down on the ground with a helicopter circling overhead. I did what I was told. After they handcuffed me and put me in the back seat of a police car, they told me that I was being charged with Grand Theft Auto. I explained to the police that I was a driver for them and that I was quiting and that I was on my way back to the Kansas City yard to give them the truck and get my car and leave. The police called and asked them if I had ever worked for them. Gainey told them no and they want to press charges. Well, the police were very nice and understanding (THANK GOD), they took the handcuffs off me and let me get in the truck to get my latest paycheck stub to show them. They called Gainey back and gave them an ear full about filing a false police report. Gainey had the truck towed back to Kansas City from St.Louis and left me in St.Louis stranded. I had to hitchike back to Kansas City to get my car. Then I recieved my last check from them for $175.00. I called them and asked them whats was the deal with my check. They told me that I was being charged $700.00 for a recovering fee because I didn't bring the truck back to the yard before I quit. Then they put a report on my D.A.C. that said unauthorized use of company equipment.

    HO LEE SHE IT!!

All they did was give them an earful? I'd like to beat them senseless myself just for wasting our tax dollars to chase down a truck en route to be returned to them. Sounds like an arrest for filing a false report is in order - I'd make some calls on that one, maybe even threaten filing on false arrest. St. Louis and KC are 5+ hours from each other - I hope that's the worst trip you'll ever have to go through, and things get better for you fast.

Don't be afraid to use a clear (and concise) explanation of the issue on your DAC report, I'm sure anyone in the industry has seen at least one Gainey false filing. Personally, if they put me through that crap, they'd be lucky if even one of their trucks in the yard had round tires the next morning (or a single leveling rod that wasn't bent in the middle).

When is the law going to wake up and shut these companies down? It'd be a benefit to everyone involved. Good luck, and best to you!

I've worked with Gainey from 2001 to 2005, had never any problem with the company. Got the first 2004 truck in Grand Rapids, if I had a problem with my truck, it was always taken to the dealer. Was always busy. Loved Gainey, Harvey was an awesome man. Wish they were still in business. They had some crooks who missed used Gaineys monies.

Grand rapids office is no longer open. Super service is and it does not belong to Gainey. It unfortunately Superservice formed up while Gainey was in business.
