I was with TMC for over a year.As far as their hometime the reason i said they lie about it is becouse there was several times that I unloaded within less than 200 miles from the house and i would end up sitting the whole weekend. Back last January i was out on the road after comeing off of christmas and something happened and my wife had to have emergancy surgery and they or my FM did not want to bring me back home. They said to call a family member to go be with here.My FM and my team leader thought it would be to much time off since I was off for 9 days at christmas. That is all I am going to bash on them about.Everyone have a good weekend.

Yeah, i don't blame you for being upset. My FM never would've expected that, I took an entire month off one time for family stuff, and my FM actually suggested it because he knew i was having problems at home.

I think stuff like that just depends on your FM and what he or she feels they will let you get away with. You have an excellent weekend as well!

if I didn't choose to stay out a few weekends a year, depending on the availability of productive longhaul loads, I'd bet I am home close to 46 out of 52. main variable is where you live. I am lucky to have a bunch of shippers close by, even when things were slow last winter they'd often bounce me 300-400 miles home for the weekend and load me close to home on Monday.

of course that is a mixed blessing having to load at Wheatland Tube at midnight on a Saturday. but hey.

Is TMC a good place to start I have been reading the threads on here and all the post I kinda have mixed feelings about them. But to me they seem to be the best of the companies that will hire some one who just got their CDL. I have almost made up my mind to go with them but would still like to know what I am getting into.

Even with all the recent crap that has happened with TMC, I still think they are better than most to start out with. But that line is blurring quick.

I agree w/all that FirNaTine posted. A new driver could certainly do much worse starting out with a company other than TMC. TMC offers VERY good training, and will set you off in the right direction, even if you decide the tmc "style" is not for you. The training I got from TMC was top-notch, and I will use it for many years. TMC has treated me fairly, so far. I have no large complaints, other than the usual. I actually still feel fortunate to have been hired by them. They are a "funny/weird" company to work for. They have many (seemingly strange/weird) rules. They fully expect drivers to adhere to all of them. That's fine w/me... Heck. It's their trucks! Who am I to say anything? I'm just glad to have a job.

Thank you guys for all the help in the decision making process. It really helps being new to the industry and to be able to get real feed back from drivers, and former drivers of the company.I would much rather get the real down and dirty from you guys than to let a recruiter blow smoke up my ###. As far as the silly rules and regs that the drivers have to adhere, I am used to that the Marine Corps has so many silly rules and regs, so I am some what used to those silly things. Thanks again guys.

Any new info about TMC. I have been looking around some more, my grandpa drives and he is looking to become an O\O. He called a guy from TMC website black and chrome and the guy told him he would sell him a 05 387 for 31k down from 36k with a brand new set of super singles. Is the company going under or just cutting back cost? Any thing will help. Thanks guys
