Riddle me this....Load from Ore City, TX to Temple, TX...Light load of corn chips...One broker offers load at $500...Same load offered by another broker for $440..Same load, same delivery location...And yet when rate con comes in from EITHER broker, SPECIFICALLY states "load shall not be brokered to another carrier"...Way to many people getting a "cut" of the pie...Know your operating costs and let the #### set on the docks..The rate will go to a reasonable price if you LET IT SIT!!!

Good stuff. The load will eventually need to get somewhere.

I do wonder though, where were the cops and why were they not handing out citations and arresting people when they were blocking interstates in MO for the protest in Ferguson area??

It really boils down to two choices:

Ain't Capitalism Great?? Supply and Demand, the market will take care of itself.......

    OR Price-Setting Govt. Regulation

Protests, demonstrations, even terrorism only serve a purpose of drawing free media attention to a cause. Without organization and a plan to use that publicity for a defined purpose to achieve a specific goal, itsna waste of time.

Drawing the publics attention to trucking woes is a waste of time because the public simply does not set the rates. Supply of truck vs supply of loads does. The public wants their junk cheaper so they are OPPOSED to the plight of truckers. Bring them into it and youll get 3 more uberconvoyamazon-esque freight apps to further cut the right which is easy to sell the public. What is bad for truckers is good for consumers.

If you petition govt to get in they will make it even worse. Consumers outnumber truckers probably 1000:1 so theyll get the representation, not us.

Misguided amateur efforts is all im seeing.

I'm too lazy to edit your post to the point I'm making, BUT... even as truck drivers we look for the better deal whether it be mechanic labor rates, fuel, tires, the list goes on. To get cheaper anything, we as drivers hope to find someone to do the job for less than another person wants to charge. Some of us opt to do what labor we can ourselves, others less mechanically inclined get soaked every time something breaks. Everywhere you turn, there's someone charging too much and someone who feels they aren't making enough. As long as they continue to put ex burger flippers in trucks, we're not going to be viewed as professional again. As long as drivers keep making a nuisance of themselves, we're not going to be viewed as professional. If you're not considered a professional, you're not going to attain the top tier on the pay scale. We, as drivers, are considered an expendable commodity.

Maybe, if we ever have a true driver shortage, we'll start getting paid more.

I've seen this a few times, customers use several brokers and send the load to 2 or 3 brokers to get quotes. Broker A will survive on less margin because they're either a big company or a dude in a basement with less overhead. Company B has more overhead than the dude in a basement with a laptop but not the volume of the big company.
It could be double broker, it could be shippers sending their loads to multiple brokers that have different requirements on how much they make.
