Back to driving after a Heart Attack

Eight years ago my hubby had a heartattack, a month shy of his 45th b-day.Was not able to drive anything for 3 months. Went back to work driving and 2 years later had to have a quad bypass (now a proud member of the zipper club(scar on chest)), Now every year he has to have a stress test and other tests to be able to maintain his license(Canadian). Small price to pay to continue doing what you enjoy. He says if the Stress Test don`t kill ya then your good to go.

 

yes its very true.u have to have a stress test and an ekg.mine was after a double bypass 10 yrs ago and im sure the rules have not changed.now i have a pacemaker/defibulator and cant drive anymore due to the defibulator,not the pacemaker!!!!dont figure.but anyway i had my heart attack at the young age of 42,which led to the bypass.what the ### kicker of this was is it happened just 5 years after i got out of the marine corps after 12 years in.ran 12 miles a day and was in great shape with no cholesterol or heart problems.so my advice to everyone is keep an eye on yourself,and get regular check ups.or youll find yourself along side me on the porch watching the big trucks go by...and it donnt feel very good after being out there 21yrs..good luck and KEEP ON TRUCKING!!!!!

 

I can understand the driving issue with the defibrillator. I have seen patients that have been shocked by this internal unit.

Me too. Right this instant I am in the cab of a W900 traveling through Phoenix. My card is a one year card but I am working.

 

Do you have to gave a stress test and echo indefinitely till you give up your cdl?

 

Good Info. I just had a HA myself. If I didn't see any of this I would be back to work already. No one said #### at the hospital.
