i have been in the extreme west, texas and the southeast, but goin to the northeast and nearby midwest (eastern midwest) scares me; what advice would you give if I need to pull over and rest; i've tried rest stops but in Illnois and other areas they are jammed; at least in Calif., utah, nm ariz you just pull off, and go to sleep; also the truck stops are horribly packed and an invitation to a disaster in the east; whatta suggest

Its true about the T/S's in the NE, but my only suggestion is get to one early and don't park on the end. If you can park at the reciever and shipper. If your truck doesn't have EZPass be sure to have plenty of cash with you. The toll roads do get expensive,

The earlier you get started in the morning the earlier in the evening you will be stopping for your break, the earlier the better especially in some areas along the east coast. Do your resaerch for the area your heading to. In some areas, like boston, overnight parking is limited, so plan on getting in, getting delivered/reloaded and getting back out all in the same day.

I picked up a book called the "Next Exit" at one of the larger books stores and found it really helpfull. It is written towards RV's but it helps in finding the truckstops, restareas, Walmarts and other places (like a Mcdonalds that has RV parking usually has truck parking) to park right off the major interstates.

It really depends on where you are going. More info would be helpful in this case.

I agree, it depends on where you are going. Try to run at night, less traffic and when you stop during the day the truck stops and rest areas will be emptier.
