I’m a delivery driver for Foodlion, which is a large grocery chain in the east.
For the past 6 weeks or so, we have been crazy busy delivering grocery products to the Foodlion stores in our area, however, things are beginning to slow way down and it seems to be getting back to normal.

We have been getting OT bonuses but that looks like that may not be around much longer.

How are things with all you drivers right now? Hours affected?

    Trucker61016 and rachi Thank this.

I work for NFI on the Kohls account. Since thy shut down a month ago we have been filling in on other accounts until this week. Most of them have caught up or slowed down so much that thy don't need any help, I'm an O/O so I decided just to take a couple weeks off because the only things thy had to do were short crap loads not worth starting my truck for. All we can do is hope things start to open up before to long but I can't see it in the near future, it's going to be a hard road for some, it already has been for a lot of people, I'm just thankful i got to stay busy up till now.

I had a light day here and there, but for the most part I haven’t been affected much at all.

For the most part our drivers are getting the same hours they did last year at this time.
Our fuel tankers are down a little but hardly enough to notice.

I'm temporarily not driving. They were trying to keep things as balanced as possible, so they took me off the road and brought me inside to do painting and maintenance work.

Still going back and forth between Phx. and LA, had a couple of smaller loads than usual, but looks to ramp back up this week.

Office asked drivers to cut to 40 hours weekly instead of 45 until this all blows over.

Are you actually getting less work?

Are they intentionally letting you milk the clock to get a consistent 45 hours per week?

My offices workload has remained consistent. We’re just being asked to reduce our milking from 45 hours to 40. I’d say in a given week I have 38-39 hours of work. The time up to 45 hours has always just been milking the clock, albeit completely sanctioned by my boss.

Can you tell me what the schedule and pay are like starting out at food lion. I seen an ad they were hiring near me and thought I might give it a shot.
